Phnom Penh’s Hands-On Khmer Cooking Class in the Countryside

Description
"Cooking with us" is a unique experience. First, because you will travel towards the hinterlands of Phnom Penh and will experience local life. Second, you will get acquainted with our local produce and taste. Third, you get guided by myself (Sophors) and I grew up in the area you will be visiting. I can tell you all the great things about this place. Last, the place you will be visiting is calm and relaxed. It is the perfect place to cook food and enjoy together. I really recommend staying one night. Important to note is that we can adapt our foods to Vegetarian or Vegan. Or in case of allergies, we can also adapt to this. Please let us know.

An amazing experience, more like spending a day with the family than just a cooking class, i learned so much in such a short time. Sophors is an amazing woman and wants to make sure her guests have the best time, which we did, and the food was lovely along with the company.
The host is a remarkable energetic person. Her English is fantastic, not only do you get a cooking lesson you get an insight into her world in this beautiful rural location. Don’t miss this opportunity.
The tuk tuk - ferry connection worked well and I met family members as arranged at Areyksat. The local market was a bit cleaner and fresher than those in central Phnom Penh and we also picked some herbs from their own organic garden. The house is lovely and everyone so welcoming. I really enjoyed the experience of cooking together - they are all accomplished chefs. Had a great conversation with Sophers over dinner and was made to feel so welcome. Great experience.
Was a amazing experience, the people are very welcome, friendly...I highly recommend...I just went away from there one hour ago and I already miss them. Full of love this family , we did more things that was supposed, I was not a guest anymore,I was part of the family. If you re coming to Cambodia it's the best place to relax and prepare the next adventure. I will never forget you guys ❤️🇰🇭🫶🫂
What a wonderful opportunity to meet delightful people, experience the way Cambodians live and prepare & eat delicious food. Also travel across the Mekong on a ferry. We were met on the other side, shopped for our ingredients, collected the 6yo daughter from school, visited the family vegetable patch and then welcomed into their home where we were involved in preparing the evening meal. Met other family members, including Baba the puppy and Cat the cat!! Aunty returned home from 3 weeks travel in Vietnam & Turkey towards the end of our meal and she was just delightful and full of entrepreneurial ideas. Such a great outing. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. We are very happy you enjoyed spending time with our family and seeing a bit of real Cambodian village life. It was a joy to cook together, visit the garden, cross the Mekong, and share stories around the table. Baba and Cat were also very happy with the extra attention. If you ever have the chance to visit us back at Meet The Province, we will for sure have new activities going ☺️😊 🌿💚 If you ever come back

Very unique and well worth experience! The family is super nice and welcoming. You get to visit their garden where they grow their own vegetables, as well as the market.
Hi there, thank you for the kind words! We loved having you join and are so glad you enjoyed visiting the garden and market with us. It was a lovely day and you're always welcome back anytime :) Sophors
Cooking with this family was a very nice experience for me. After shopping together at the local market we went home to the vegetable garden to harvest fresh vegetables herbs. The family takes good care of its guests. The cooking was very nice. Prepare everything together and the atmosphere is relaxed. After everything is prepared, it is time to cook and stir-fry. The meal was very tasty and I thought it was a very nice evening. Recommended if you want to cook at the local people's house.
Hi Jarno, thank you for this lovely message! It was so nice having you with us. From the market to the garden to cooking together at home, you really joined in with great spirit. I’m glad you enjoyed the food and the relaxed vibe. Hope to welcome you back again one day :) Sophors
Pleasant trip outside Phnom Penh, short 5 min ferry which runs every 15 min, they pick you up on the other side and take you to get ingredients and go shopping. Lovely country home to do the food prep. There were just two of us and we ended up taking food back with us as it was more than enough.
Hello and thank you for the lovely review! So glad you enjoyed the little adventure out of the city and the cooking time at our home. You two were great company and I’m happy you had plenty of food to take home. Come back anytime for round two :) Sophors
This is a MUST do cooking experience when travelling in the area. From start to finish Sophars was an excellent host/ tutor. We were met at the ferry port and driven by Sophan in a tuk tuk to the local market where Sophars explained everything to us and of course was extremely knowledgeable about all the produce that was sold there. After buying all our ingredients to cook our meal we then jumped back I. The tuk tuk to her organic garden to pick the vegetables that would accompany our dish. How lovely to be able to pick your own veg and cook straight away, this alone would have made me book the experience. Then it was off to the kitchen to prepare our meal, but first we stopped to buy some cold beers to have whilst preparing our meal. Arriving at the kitchen we were greeted by some other members of staff who were very accommodating. So we started to prepare the spice blend for our Amok chicken curry and it felt like being at home surrounded by family, cooking and laughing in the kitchen. It was so much fun that before we knew it, it was time to sit at the table and enjoy the fruits of our labour. The best Amok curry, rice, pak cho and cabbage. Followed by a delightful sweet potato and palm sugar dessert. Sophars & Sophan you guys rock. Anyone reading this review hesitating on booking, don’t, you will not be disappointed.
Hello and wow, what an amazing review! Reading this brought back all the fun from that day. You two were such a joy to cook with and I’m so happy it felt like home. From market to garden to kitchen (plus those cold beers), it was such a great vibe. Thanks for the love and hope to welcome you back again sometime :) Sophors
