Fun, but less "hands-on" than expected.

We were very eager to do this group custard tart workshop, but we left with a somewhat bittersweet feeling. To be honest, our expectation was to find a much more participatory or "hands-on" experience. We went in thinking that each person would have the opportunity to make their own tarts from start to finish, but the reality was a much more group-oriented and passive dynamic. Most of the time consisted of listening to the instructor's explanations while we shared utensils and pots among everyone. In practice, our individual participation was very limited: we basically just stirred the milk for a moment and filled the molds with the batter and cream. We felt that we missed out on really being involved in the complete process of the recipe, as much of the work was already done or performed by the staff. If you are looking for a class where you just want to have a pleasant time listening and watching how it is done, that is fine. But if, like us, you are looking for an immersive cooking experience where you are the main one in the preparation, this workshop may be a bit disappointing.

Brilliant group activity

We went as a group of 6 and had the best time! We were shown how to make Pastel de Natas from scratch as well as another traditional portuguese dessert. Really good fun and we all got to eat all of it at the end!

Informative and fun, we...

Informative and fun, we loved this hands-on, two-hour cooking experience where we learned about both the history and step by step technique in making not only Pastel de Nata, but also Farofias. Everything was so well thought out and paced, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the clean and bright cooking school environment. Great facility and small group setting. Anna and Marta were wonderful, expert instructors. Again, pace of class was perfect for mixed ages (our group included ages 11 and 15). Fun to sit for a few minutes and enjoy eating our desserts at the very end!

Pastel de nata afternoon

Very nice cooking workshop for pastel de naTa. We got the preparation of farofias extra! Nice teaching and history sketch of the pastel de nata and Belem. Ideal as a couple with our two girls (9 and 11y) In the end, we had a QR code with lots of Portuguese recipes.

A really fun couple of hours learning how to make traditional Pastil de nanda. Much more complicated than I expected but Anna and Marta made it very easy for us.

Things are Cooking in Lisbon!

The cooking school was a little hard to find, but once we did, it was SO wonderful. The kitchen is set up very professionally and the staff (Thank you Anna and Marta) were patient, informative and very fun. The class was cooking Pastel de Nata, and was so wonderful. The staff gave us comprehensive lessons and made us feel very welcome in their kitchen. They made the recipe very easy to follow and gave us other ones as a bonus It was delightful cooking with others from around the world. Such a fun way to experience the culture of Portuguese food.

Nata Fun!

We had a wonderful experience at our nata cooking class! Anna and Marta were friendly and welcoming. They gave us special tips for cooking nata at home. The school is clearly very well run and organized. The nata and bonus dessert we made were delicious! It is a wonderful way to spend 2 hours in Lisbon! Highly recommend!!
