Itinerary
Introduction and walk from the meeting point to the first restaurant.
We enjoy a creamy fish soup as a starter at a local seafood restaurant that has won awards for its soup. Alternatives are available for those who cannot eat fish soup.
We explore hidden gems and local favorite spots, including parks, viewpoints, old bridges, colorful wooden houses, street art, a river, and waterfalls. This part involves about 1 hour of walking and some steep hills, so you should be in decent physical shape and wear good shoes.
We enjoy the main course at a farm-to-table restaurant. Then we’ll take the tram back to the city center, close to where we started the tour.
Enjoy Norwegian waffels with brown cheese or cinnamon bun

Great overview of traditional foods of Norway. Nice walk with historical commentary. Learned a lot and food was great. Annie was funny and a wealth of information. Thoroughly enjoyed.
The guide did not show up at the time listed on the Viator website. They claim they changed the time from that listed on the website and claim they notified me a month on advance. I have no record of notification on the date they said they sent. Nor do they have any confirmation I received the notification. Having not received confirmation, they made no effort to make sure I was informed of the change in time. Other guides have had no issues contacting me. We left after taking photos of a clock tower to confirm date and time. They want to charge me over $300.
We were very disappointed in the food part of the tour. We did one in Budapest through TripAdvisor and there is no comparison. The portions were small and disappointing. The waffle dessert was not good at all. Our guide was great.
Annie, our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastically shared her knowledge of Norway’s history and its food. She shared the information in a way that was interesting and fun. We walked through parts of Oslo I’m sure we wouldn’t have found on our own. The food stops were delicious, we tasted traditional Norwegian food in lovely locations. A great way to see Oslo.
Annie was a great guide - knowledgeable and very personable. Food choices were great (although would have loved more than three). Highly recommend!
Silje was awesome, loved getting the inside scoop on Norway. Come ready to walk, we move around the city a lot. I would have expected more food choices or options given the cost of this trip. This would be better described as a hidden gems only tour than a good one. Loved the tour guide and her excellent recommendations!
Lots of walking but Sjur did a great job. We learned a lot about the history of Oslo and Norway and sampled some great food!
my girlfriend and I did this food tour and it was amazing!! our tour guide (Mu Sjur) was a lovley guy, very smiley and happy to answer questions!! the food was tasty (the fish soup was my girlfriend's favourite!!), and the walk itself was beautiful- full of nature, rivers and hills. it is a good thing to do if you want to explore norway in a limited time (3/4 hrs)!!
Unfortunately, I had to cancel this tour a few hours before it began because I got sick. They very graciously refunded our entire cost.
This was a very fun tour. We had two tour guides and a group of about seven people, which allowed each tour guide to interact with all the guests individually throughout the tour. The meeting point was very easy to find, we stopped at three different food spots and walked around parts of the city that were off the beaten path. We went through the art district, saw historic buildings and churches as well as several small parks where locals hang out. The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and the food was fresh and delicious!
