One day Tour of Lovech and Krushunski Waterfalls from Sofia

Description
Lovech – the old town and Varosha quarter – where are located the ethnographic complex and the Vasil Levski house museum. Lovech is known as the center of the Internal Revolutionary Organization of the revolutionary Vasil Levski in his struggle for liberation from Ottoman rule. In the highest part of the old town are the remains of the Hisarya fortress. Near the fortress is the monument to Vasil Levski. The covered bridge over the Osam River is the symbol of Lovech. The bridge connects the old and new parts of the city. It was built in 1872-1874 by the builder Kolyu Ficheto, and today it houses numerous shops where you can buy souvenirs. Stratesh Hill is another popular place for walks and is home to the Lovech Zoo. Krushuski Waterfalls - one of the most attractive landmarks of the country. The waterfalls are the highest travertine cascade in Bulgaria. An eco-trail with bridges and stairs has been made through the water cascade. Devetashka Cave - bonus in your prograam for first time.

Connecting the old and the new town parts of Lovech
Devetàshka cave (Bulgarian: Деветашката пещера) is a large karst cave around 7 km (4.3 mi) east of Letnitsa and 15 km (9.3 mi) northeast of Lovech, near the village of Devetaki on the east bank of the river Osam, in Bulgaria. The site has been continuously occupied by Paleo humans for tens of thousands of years, served as a shelter for various faunal species during extensive periods and is now home to nearly 30,000 bats.
The former Roman citadel Hisarya, which is situated on the hill of the same name, was the place where in 1187 the peace treaty between the Bulgarian Empire and the Byzantine Empire was signed and the returning of Bulgaria on the European map was officially declared, marking the beginning of the Second Bulgarian Empire. In the 12th century, Lovech was a great trade centre and one of the most famous towns in Bulgaria. Ivan Alexander was appointed to govern the city by 1330, most likely being appointed due to Lovech being a major city that controlled commercial passage through the Stara Planina passes, and the migration of intellectuals to Moldavia and Wallachia, due to Ottoman conquests, resulting in the beginning of the Despotate of Lovech. Plan of the medieval fortress of Lovech The Turkish invasion in the middle of the 14th century did not pass the town, but the Hisarya fortress was captured last of all, in 1446.

Great trip, highly recommended to exist from the city and view beautiful scenery. Our guide Denitsa was perfect and completed our trip experience.
I booked this tour with zelanos tours online and paid in advance. The pick up should be in front of an hotel at 8 o' clock in the morning. I waited from 7.50 till 8.35 there, and no one showed up. I tried to phone the company with the phone number given on the reservation, but no one picked the receiver up. The worst is: they refuse to pay my money back, saying that i did not show up. And saying that they tried to reach me by phone and my phone was switched off...it is true that they tried to call me, about five (!) hours after the pick up time. they didn't leave any message on the mailbox, and, anyway, what is the purpose/sense in calling 5 hours after pick up time????? I never experienced a company whose guide/driver did not show up, who didn't pick up the phone, and who say that is the fault of the customer and they will not pay the money back.
Adrian was an amazing tour guide, we spent about 8 hours with him through each destination and each one was great! He took us to an authentic restaurant in Lovech too which had some amazing food. Definitely would recommend 👌 he is full of facts and knowledge so ask away
Hello, I think this review is not for our tours. We don't have guide Adrian.
Jorge very good guide would recommend the trip places very quiet. Sofia is very interesting lots of places to visit. Food is good and very reasonably priced. People friendly hotel art plaza where i am staying is vrry central. Would use trip advisor again
We had our trip to Lovech and Krushunski falls. we met our local guide named Maria, she was so friendly, explained everything so professionally, a real Bulgarian! We had a great time with her, enjoying her explanation and her warm altitude. I felt comfortable to ask her any questions I wanted to ask, and I would definitely recommend her!
