Had our fill of Kolkata

The city of joy, very joyfully shown to us by our very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate guide Mr Anirban Dey. All beautiful landmarks with their historical contexts , all cultural hot spots … buying some books in college street, having coffee at the iconic Indian coffee house, shopping at naya bazaar, mishti doi and rashogulla at Balaram Mullick’s… all in all an amazing experience

Efficient and accommodating.

We only had a day in Kolkata, so I wanted to be efficient. The tour guide picked us up at the airport and asked if there were any sites in particular I wanted to see. I left it to him, and he did a great job getting us around town to explore the sights. My kid was pretty tired, so we took an early lunch and the guide took us to a Bengal style place that had great sea food. My son felt better after that and we had a great time. They dropped us at the train station, completing our visit to Kolkata. Couldn't have made it easier for our short stay.

Excellent day tour of Calcutta

Very well organized 1 day tour of Calcutta. All interesting places of the city were approached and visited. We especially liked Mother Theresa's motherhouse , the flower market with Howrah bridge and of course the Victoria Memorial. Our guide Anirban Dey was extremely polite and had excellent knowledge which was very well imparted. The driver was very good and had a calm driving style. Overall a highly recommended tour of Calcutta. Without a guided tour, it is impossible to visit all the sights of Calcutta in one day. Thank you.

Raj made my day

It's on the expensive side for India, but it was well worth it. I'll do it again in a heartbeat. It was Raj, a driver, and a clean air-conditioned car. Probably about 8 1/2 hours total with 45 min lunch break for me. Raj picked my up at the hotel, and we went though my expectations. It was not my first trip to India, From there on, it was on him. It was a hot day, so the order of places mattered. He knows the town inside out. Raj's English is top notch, which is not always a given. And he had a very good balance between history and random items to keep things interesting. He was the best guide in India I had so far, by a big margin.

Beautiful way to explore Kolkata

Our tour guide was extremely patient and courteous while taking us to various places. He took out the time to explain the history and significance of each place and was very knowledgeable. We were able to explore each place with sufficient time and left with lot of valuable information about Kolkata and the history behind the historic landmarks. We were able to cover lot of places in the allocated time, we didn’t visit all the locations on the agenda however. The tour guide was friendly overall and was happy to accommodate our lunch request and drove us to the restaurant as well. Overall this was a fun way to get the feel of the city and its beautiful architecture. I recommend this tour. I think it would be nice to bring print out of kolkata map marking all the places that are planned for the day to know which direction the places are at.

I just finished the tour, WOW! I found this tour to be very educational. We learned about the different religions and there practices. We learned a lot about the West Bengal history (which is why I went for the tour). The wars that took place, the influence of the U.K., and West Bengal's cinema and it's Poet's, particularly Tagore. I think most importantly our tour guide was very courteous, kind and knowledgeable about the tour sites. If you are planning to visit and tour Calcutta "Kolkata" I highly suggest you take the tour.

Victoria Memorial

The marble memorial was inaugurated by Prince Duke of Windsor on 21 December, 1921. The architectural design was done by Sir William Emerson and was built by Sir Rajendra Nath Mukherjee. After the death of Alexandrina Victoria, Lord Curzon initiated the construction of this memorial at an expense of 10 crores of rupees on 26 hectare land. The 200 feet tall memorial was constructed over 15 years. 3,500 antiques used by Queen Victoria are exhibited in 25 galleries along with other very important art objects.

Wonderful guide

We had an amazing time on our private tour. Our female guide was so lovely and knowledgeable about all things Kolkata. For two women travelling alone, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended! Thankyou!
