When we visit new cities we love walking tours- and although we typically prefer a guide those groups can get pretty large and the guides are hit/miss. We enjoyed this self guided tour and appreciate that the app had some others available to us as well. Self guided tours lend themselves to a few things that the tour guides don’t— go whenever you want, ability to pause and return, repeat info, consistent information that you can hear clearly because you have your headphones and can replay (even back in the room), less expensive.

Very confusing to figure out how to get the actual tour on your phone. Once you do, it's a quick tour, interesting history mostly about the Vanderbilts. Don't expect much of anything about the art and architecture.
Jonathan, I'm sorry to hear the setup was confusing—thanks for sticking with it. I included a tutorial video with step-by-step instructions in the confirmation email, and I’ll review how we can make that even clearer. I'm glad you found the history fascinating, especially the Vanderbilt stories. If there’s specific content like art or architecture details you were hoping for, feel free to share—I’d love to consider it for future updates.
The instructions were very clear, and once begun, the tour was easy to follow - easy to pause when necessary and then to resume. Selections were short but full of information - highly recommended! (One suggestion: we booked for 2 adults. Instructions about how to access the tour for each individual through one booking could be made more clear / easier ). We'll book more of this author's tours - very well done!

The backstory of the building and details of the construction were fascinating! We wouldn’t have gotten all that information just reading the few signs around.

I was never able to access the guide for our self tour. Terribly frustrating. Kept trying to log in, start over, access info. Even tried to get hel from a group tour guide. Dismissed by guide (understandably) but internet was no help.
Kerry, that isn't very good! It sounds like you had trouble accessing the guide. This can usually be fixed pretty easily. Our support team is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST (contact info in your confirmation email) if you want them to walk you through it. If you're still in NYC, I can help you log in myself!
