Nestled amid lush greenery and rolling hills, Kandy in Sri Lanka captivates visitors with its rich history and cultural charm. Home to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kandy beckons with its serene lake, vibrant markets, and colorful festivals. The city's cool climate and picturesque landscapes provide a tranquil escape, while its bustling streets offer a glimpse into the island's vibrant culture and warm hospitality.
Gregory Lake was created in 1873 by the British era Governor at the time, Sir William Gregory, supposedly for the purpose of providing electricity. However, the lake was mainly used for leisure and recreation after it was built. At its peak of fame, Gregory Lake was the most prominent attraction in the area and was used as a place to relax by many visitors. Now visitors can follow the ancient British era tradition of relaxing picnics on the shore of the lake, or more modern leisure activities such as rides in swan-shaped paddle boats, normal boat rides, pony rides along the shore, water walking balls, watersports such as jet skis, windsurfing and etc. As such with these many attractions Gregory Lake is a family-friendly historic location of SriLanka, attracting many holidaymakers who visit the country.
The Victoria Park is a public park located in Nuwara Eliya, next to the Nuwara Eliya Post Office in Sri Lanka. Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden. The park was formally named in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. The park was established with the planting of its first tree, an Oak, by a visiting German Princess. The Nanu Oya River runs through the park, creating a number of small lakes. A number of rare bird species can be found in the park. At the far end of the park is a small children’s playground and miniature ridable railway.
Get a guided tour through the Tea Estate and learn more about the varieties, processing methods, and qualities of tea. Sri Lanka is one of the world's largest exporters of tea. Since the introduction of the plant to Sri Lanka in the mid-19th century, Nuwara Eliya has been the capital of the tea industry. For many miles prior to reaching Nuwara Eliya, from either direction, you will find acres and acres of tea plantations.
Ramboda Falls, at 109m (357ft) high, is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and one of the highest waterfalls in the world. It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass.

I went on a full day tour to Nuwara Eliya. Driver Shantha was really great ✨ He was attentive, kind and gave us lots of information ✏️ Also, they adjusted the location according to where I wanted to go, which was really good ☺️ He pulled us over at the scenic point and was very kind 👍 Driving is also very safe and wonderful. Getting around the car was more comfortable than anything else, and the long journeys were quick! It was a really great day! The tea plantations I saw in Nuwara Eliya were also spectacular. It was great to be on the tour! Thank you very much 💕

When our original travel package, “Scenic Train Ride to Nanu Oya from Kandy” from Lakpura, was no longer available, I was initially disappointed. However, Mewan Madhuranga turned things around completely by creating a custom itinerary for me and my family that exceeded all our expectations. Mewan took the time to understand our travel goals and ensured we could still visit all the key sites we had in mind, including the breathtaking train journey we had our hearts set on. He not only secured the highly sought-after train tickets but also arranged a seamless itinerary that included visits to Ramboda Falls, Bluefield Tea Factory, Little Adam’s Peak, 9 Arch Bridge, Hakgala Gardens, and more. Every detail of our trip was thoughtfully planned, from accommodations to transport. Thanks to Mewan’s meticulous planning, we enjoyed a stress-free journey full of unforgettable experiences. If you’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka and want exceptional service, I highly recommend working with Mewan Madhuranga. His dedication, expertise, and ability to customize a tour to your needs make him an outstanding travel agent.

Chunugu from Mahawala tours got me on the right train/seat for a brilliant train ride with stunning scenery. Great trip. He collected me at Nanu Oya for the rest of the drive, no problems. Would have liked to have spent more time in Nuwara Eliya & if I had of done a little more research & asked I'm sure I could have, so no fault of Chunuga. Nice tea factory on the way back. Good use of limited time for a trip into the hills.

Nalinda was friendly and professional. He was also very flexible - happy to stop whenever we wanted and to change the tour around a little to suit our needs . His English was very good .The train trip was stunning and the visit to the tea factory was interesting. It was a full day and we enjoyed it all . Would recommend it .
I loved the train ride from Kandy through the tea plantations. Book a seat at the back of the train, but make sure it is on the right hand side, to get the best views and pictures. You will find that most of the tourist are in this section of the train. What a unique experience this was,
It was a relaxing train ride as I booked 2nd class (reserved seats). Throughout the ride, there were many beautiful views for the camera. Best if you can get seats on the right side of the train (more views and no morning sun). The train was not travelling very fast, so if you are the adventure type, feel free to open the train door and take photos or even selfie like me.
