Take this tour

Take this tour. From the on time pick up, clean, new vehicles. Max was my driver to the Malaysian border then switched vehicle, driver Alex. Very safe driver. Great conversation. Once we reached Batu Caves, my guide Lionel was waiting. Great, patient guide, he went with me up those 272 steps, lol. At Petronas Towers Lionel waited while I went to the top. Very knowledgeable guide. The drive to Malaysia was about 4 hours, we stopped every two hours, thank you Alex. He had juice and plenty of water and pastries in the van. I really enjoyed this tour. I was a solo traveler. I felt safe with Max, Alex and Lionel. Thank you.

Tour not recommended the short time with the guide in Malaysia was very good!

Nobody called ahead to tell us about visas. The first driver from Singapore was terrible and then they put us in a car from the Malaysia border with a drivers that did not understand or speak English for over 4 hours on the way and 6 and a half on the way back to Singapore. The tour guide in Malaysia was very good. He was very knowledgeable and thorough but I would not recommend this tour and we feel it was not worth it.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your kind comments regarding the Malaysia tour guide and are glad to hear that he provided a knowledgeable and thorough experience. Regarding the visa information, we would like to clarify that we informed you via email in October that all itinerary details and procedures would be communicated via WhatsApp. We also advised that 1–2 days prior to departure, the guide and driver details, along with instructions for completing the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card and Singapore Arrival Card, would be sent via WhatsApp. Kindly refer to the communication records on the platform. With regard to the first driver from Singapore, we would appreciate it if you could share more specific details about the issue encountered, so we can review the matter properly and take appropriate corrective action. As for the driver assigned from the Malaysia border, he is one of our regular drivers handling Viator bookings and is able to understand and communicate in basic English. While we understand that language expectations may vary, there have been no prior reports of communication issues of this nature. Should there have been specific situations that caused inconvenience, we would welcome further details for review. We regret that the experience did not meet your expectations overall and thank you for your feedback, which helps us improve our services.

Dangerous

Out of all the tours in all the countries I’ve been to, this is by far the worst. I was shuffled from one driver in a luxurious van to a driver in an old van once over the border to Malaysia. My driver, Max, that took me to the border was amazing. But that’s where it ends. Once I got into the much older and much less nice van in Malaysia, things went bad. My new driver was going close to 140 kmh in 100 kmh zones AND texting a driving. He was driving on the shoulder at times as well. I was so nervous riding with him that my smart watch thought I was working out because of my elevated heart rate. To make things worse, he didn’t say a word to me other than, “let me know if you need a toilet” when I first got in the car. This made a long car ride feel even longer. When I did ask him to stop at a restroom, he seemed annoyed that I requested it. A very small “breakfast” was provided to me. It was a small juice, a cupcake, and a red bean bun. There was zero attempt to stop for coffee or anything else on the way and I certainly didn’t want to ask after the annoyance to stop for a toilet. Once in Malaysia, my tour guide was sometimes difficult to understand because of his accent and he had difficulty understanding some of my questions as well. I finally got to eat something for lunch around 1pm after being picked up from my hotel at 5am. Make sure you eat a big lunch because that will be your last opportunity for any food until you get back to your hotel, which was close to 8pm for me. I definitely wasn’t going to ask my driver to stop anywhere on the way back. Because of this, I felt dehydrated all day for fear of inconveniencing my driver again by asking him to stop. This tour was AWFUL. For the exorbitant price, they should be ashamed and embarrassed of this tour. Do yourself a gigantic favor and just fly to Malaysia for the day. There’s nothing luxurious or special about this tour. In fact, it’s DANGEROUS and should be investigated.

Operator response

Hi Ms. Alyssa! We are truly sorry for your unpleasant experience. Your feedback is very important to us, and we have completed a full review of the incident. 1. Our tour is not a luxury package — the cross-border vehicle switch at the Singapore–Malaysia border is a requirement under both countries’ transport regulations. The replacement vehicle in Malaysia, while older, remains fully within legal safety and operational standards. We understand, however, that this contrast may have caused some disappointment. 2. After a full internal investigation, we confirmed that the driver in Malaysia made several unacceptable mistakes, including unsafe driving behavior. He has been suspended immediately. Upon inquiry, we learned that he was dealing with personal issues that day, but that in no way excuses his actions. Passenger safety is our top priority, and such conduct is never tolerated. 3. Regarding the driver driving on the shoulder, please note that some sections of Malaysian highways have “Smart Lanes” — emergency lanes that are officially opened during certain hours to help ease heavy traffic. When this happens, vehicles are legally allowed to use them. We understand this may have caused concern, and we’ll remind our drivers to clearly explain this to guests in the future. 4. Regarding communication, rest stops, and meal arrangements — we deeply regret the driver’s lack of attentiveness and empathy, which failed to meet our company’s service standards. We have retrained our team and strengthened monitoring to ensure this never happens again. Your unpleasant experience is a serious failure on our part in management and supervision. We sincerely apologize for the stress this caused you and truly hope it hasn’t affected your overall impression of Malaysia. We thank you again for your feedback — it helps us correct our shortcomings and improve every future guest’s experience.

day trip worth doing - make the effort! Its worth it

So, its an early start and a very long day but the transport was uber comfy - so you can at least get some sleep on the rather boring drive there and back, but thats the negatives out of the way....................as we were in Singapore for F1 and never likely to be closer to The Petronas Towers ever again it was the best opportunity to go see them. Coupled with the Batu Caves and shrine, the Chinese Temple and food Markets (we opted to skip the mosque in favour of getting home earlier) it was a brilliant day - assisted by our two drivers and guide, all were excellent, friendly and helpful. There were just the 3 of us on our trip so the minivan was perfect for us to all get stretched out and snooze while Alan did all the leg work to get us there and back. We had ample time at each location and never felt rushed or bored, it was managed very well.

The communication between...

The communication between me and Lernard was very efficient and clear, based on the fact that we were in different countries. The driver picked up us on time. Once in Malaysia, the tour guide, Sandran was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I definitely would recommend this activity to anyone traveling to the area.
