We drive around 30 min. to Our first stop is the House of Virgin Mary. The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles away from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council on 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared there as a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed there
Continue to our tour with our second stop Ephesus Ancient City. We will start visiting one of the main highlights in Turkey, Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on the western coast of Asia Minor) is located near Izmir. As a port city it was a major departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor. Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus; it was built in the beginning of the 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila to be a memorial to his father Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of Province of Asia. , the Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of the most impressive buildings in Ephesus. Grand theatre was built in 3rd century B.C and it was later expanded to 24.000 spectators by the Romans in the 1st century A.D.
Terrace Houses ( included in 2 options. Private with Terrace Houses and Group with Terrace Houses. Terrace Houses are not included in without Terrace Houses options ) is located on skirt of Pion Mountain. There are 6 residential units which were built on three man-made terraces. These houses were settled by wealty citizens of Ephesus. These houses were very fancy decorated with wall frescoes and floor mosaics. There are many steps to ascend from bottom to top. Not recommended for people who has walking difficulties and acro-phobia (fear of heights).

The tour was interesting but we didn't get off to a very good start as I had the tour leaving at 8:00 and it didn't leave until 9:00. Viator claimed I received an email even though I did not. At the end of our tour our guide took us to shops (rugs, purses) that we felt were inappropriate. Almost like she was going to get a kick back if we bought something.

Our group tour starts 45 to 60 minutes after cruise arrival . It is very clear in meeting point details. If you have not received confirmation email, you could ask us to re-email you. All others came to meeting point just before 9.00 a.m. and you started your tour before 9.00 a.m. None of our tours include any compulsory stops. Did you make any stop during the tour ? No. You complated your tour with other 3 familes ( total 9 pax ). Our guide dropped you off at Kusadasi center where shops and port are. She showed you the bazaars, restaurants, your cruise and the way to get to cruise. some of 7 went to bazaar and some of 7 went to cruise. You asked for her recommendation . The entire tour was incredible- beginning to end. Our guide Fusun was friendly, informative, and great with everyone in our party from 6 yr old to adults. The van was clean, comfortable, and modern. Our driver was also very good. Loved seeing everything from Ephasus to the Terrace Houses (DO NOT MISS THIS)! And we ended the tour with a lovely farm to table lunch and rug-making demonstration. Highly recommend!!
Ershan our guide was really amazing, informative and entertaining. He is very knowledgeable around the history of the sites and was so kind to share with us his culture and history. We really enjoyed our experience especially since its our first time in Turkiye and we’re only there very briefly. Would definitely recommend him as your guide !

Was highly impressed with our guide! And our Driver! We had a full day, exploring the ancient city along with some great shopping and food! Probably the highlight of our time in Turkey. Cankat (our guide) was phenomenal. Highly recommend..
It was a fantastic trip. We had Nahide as our guide. I dont think a better guide exists honestly. She was very informed and is a super sweet lady. She spoke great English. She gave us plenty of time to take photos and explore, explaining everything to us before letting us explore and giving us frequent meet up points. I cannot recommend this enough. Also, they were very easy to find walking off our ship. Didn't even have to try to find them.
Melih was our guide for this tour, and Sergei was our driver - both did an outstanding job, providing us with a safe and entertaining tour. Melih clearly loves his country, and its history - his information was both educational and entertaining. Sergei was a good and safe driver, providing us with smooth transportation. Mere (our guide) was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and interesting along with a great sense of humor. His knowledge of history, archeology, mythology and his love of Turkey was epic. Tour guide was easy to find at cruise terminal, even with 4 big ships arriving at the same time. Ben was our tour guide. Had an amazing experience. Very knowledgeable and informative throughout the day. He gave us paper to write a wish at the Virgin Mary house. We also stopped at a carpet workshop on the way back which we found quite interesting. We did not feel obligated to buy anything. Thanks Ben for a great day and the laughs!

Our guide (Melih), and our driver (Sergei) gave us a comprehensive and interesting tour of Mary’s House and Ephesus - we were super happy with the feel of the tour and the detail of the information that Melih shared with us.
