Itinerary
The garden was laid out in accordance with the classical layout around the Nemausus spring, spreading forth a supply of water that feeds pools and the canal. In the Gallo-Roman period, this area was the site of the baths, theatre and the temple of Diana which with its surrounding greenery makes for a romantic backdrop.
A true masterpiece of Gallo-Roman architecture, the Maison Carrée is today the only ancient temple in the world to be perfectly preserved. Photo stop.
The Roman amphitheatre (or arena) in Nîmes is the best-conserved of the Roman world. The monument was turned into a fortress in the Middle Ages, forming a refuge for the population in case of danger. The inner part was later filled by private houses until the nineteenth century. In 1809, houses, chapels and the chateau of the viscounts of Nîmes were demolished to give the monument its initial appearance. Today, the amphitheatre forms a fine venue for many occasions—bullfights, congresses, concerts and sports events.
Uzès is listed as a 'City of Arts and History'. You will discover its great many riches as you wander the streets of Uzès: 12th century Fenestrelle tower, 11th century tower Bermonde and the Duke castle. Walking tour, lunch break and visit of the medieval garden with beautiful view of the old town.
Take a walk at the start of the Roman aqueduct of Nîmes. See the spring of l’Eure and some of the water conduit.
The result of outstanding architectural design, the Pont du Gard is one of the world’s best-preserved examples of Roman ingenuity. The most visited ancient monument in France, listed a world heritage site by Unesco, the Pont du Gard aqueduct remains one of humankind's great masterpieces. A marvel of Antiquity and a true technical feat.

The tour was very nice, and our tour guide was very friendly and told us a lot about the land and its people. Only the stay in Uzès (great little town) was set for 2 hours and 15 minutes, which was much too long. The cities are very worth seeing, and the Pont du Gard is a real highlight. We were seven in an air-conditioned minibus, which was very relaxing.
Mixed feelings about the tour. The things we saw were amazing with the exception of the Arena. The tour when booked made it look like the arena tour was included in the price and it was not. The arena tour itself was a waste of money as they were setting up for an event so you couldn’t really see much at all. Nimes and the little village we went to was very nice and the Roman aqueduct was spectacular. The guide was very informative and nice.
This was disappointing. Our guide seemed more interested in helping people get good photos than actually informing us. Basic questions about sites went unanswered. It was difficult to hear her when she walked ahead of us, while one member of our party was physically challenged and had trouble keeping up (we requested a wheelchair, and were flatly denied). While the sites were interesting, this could have been presented with some passion and heart - unfortunately, neither were present today.
Nathalie was very knowledgeable but talked very fast and we missed almost all of the names that were in French . Tour cut short due to two people needing to make a train and that should result in a small rebate for the rest of us . We were not aware of activity options at Pont du Gard . If we had had the whole two hours , we could have gobe swimming
Highly recommend this tour! It was the highlight for my husband, a Mechanical Engineer. Nathalie was a very knowledgeable guide and an excellent driver around the beautiful Provencal countryside & villages. The small group was ideal. Everything was perfect!
Excellent trip. Really interesting and facinating to see different places. The Pont du Gard is a must to see
Awesome tour! Our guide Anne was informative and professional. She very personable and had a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend this tour
A 5 star trip and great day out - we highly recommend! Our guide Kelsey was wonderful - a fountain of knowledge in terms of historical facts about the towns/sites we visited, as well the surrounding areas near Avignon. Kelsey drove us to each location in her minivan, she was a great and considerate driver
Well paced touring experience with adequate time for snacking, dining, and comfort stops. The attentive Guide/Driver leads a small group enabling access to the sites you wish to see, and a few surprising places you may not have known about. A day well spent.
I had expected a lot from this tour, but it exceeded my expectations. Nathalie was a wonderful guide: knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to ensure that we all got as much out of the sites we visited as possible. The Pont du Gard is magnificent. Seeing it in person for the first time is quite an extraordinary experience. And there is more: The scenery en route is captivating, Nîmes is a surprise, and Uzès is so very charming. A perfect day.
