Attending ghost tours is one of our must-do activities whenever we travel. It’s a fun way to uncover hidden history that you’d never learn about in a classroom, and it gives you a completely different perspective on places that might otherwise seem like ordinary everyday scenery. Joel absolutely nailed this Greenwich Village ghost tour with his extensive knowledge of the neighborhood and its history, as well as his incredible storytelling skills, undoubtedly shaped by his theatrical background. He brings the past to life so vividly that you can easily picture the events as they unfolded. Some stories are so chilling that you’ll find yourself thinking about them later that night when you return to your old hotel room in New York City. There are plenty of ghost tours in NYC, but if you’re going to take one, it has to be the Ghosts of the Village Tour with Joel. It will be an unforgettable experience!
I wish we could have gone inside some of the places, but we still got a lot of good information. Joel was a great tour guide.
Joel is friendly knowledgeable and you can tell he has a passion for this subject and his city!
We had a fabulous tour of the ‘Village’ with our wonderful guide Ferdinand. He was very knowledgeable qbout the history of the area and pointied out the clubs, theaters and national historic sites that are well known. Our tour was in the evening so we could really appreciate the lively nature of this classic NYC neighborhood. He gave us lot’s of good tips on entertainment venues we might check out on a future visit.
Maddie was an AMAZING tour guide; her sense of humor and knowledge really made this tour one of the best we've taken!! We were able to ask questions about everything from film locations and restaurant suggestions during the tour! Walking through one of the most beautiful and vibrant neighborhoods of the city was incredible, and we happened to be there on Pride weekend, which was even more energetic and fun! Since we went in a summer month, our tour took place as the sun was setting, which was really beautiful. It wasn't as 'spooky' since it was still light out, but the stories and the history from some of these places were enough to rattle some of us (in a good way). For anyone who is hesitant to book because they may be slightly frightened of 'ghost tours,' I'd say it's more a historical tour than a 'scary tour.' We loved it!
What a sneaky and spooky way to get in a history lesson of Greenwich village! Went with husband and niece, who loves a ghost tour and is also looking at colleges. Did you know that one of the NYU bio / chem lab buildings was the site of a tragedy that led to early labor reforms in the US? We also saw the building where Edgar Allen Poe introduced the world to The Raven and the Tell Tale Heart. Our guide Brianna, was just so engaging and charming. My niece loved her!
Perfect tour. Joel was a great storyteller and the information he provided during the tour was educational and presented in such a fun way
Maddie is a well versed historian and eloquent storyteller, and it was a win to have her as our tour guide. Book a little later in the summer months for a moodier, quieter surrounding - and a greater chance of sighting ghosts!
Super informative & entertaining!!
This tour was great! Joel was our guide and he was amazing! Thanks so much!
