Very well organized area, even in high season. Clear signage and good order in the parking lot. Keep in mind, however, that it is quite a long walk from the parking lot up to the castle. The castle itself is really something special. It is almost a shame that Ludwig II did not have time to finish more of the rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Everything worked out great and picking up the tickets was very uncomplicated - thanks a lot and I'd be happy to do it again anytime.
It is better to book directly with the castle if possiblle as tour operator did very little and charged for little service
A true fairytale castle, set in beautiful surroundings. Well worth a visit, however, I did feel that the tour was a little rushed, and that groups were being admitted in quick succession..... more groups more money! There is plenty of walking in the area, but the best viewpoint for the castle gets very very busy. Note that the horse and carriage ride only accepts cash.
Wonderful visit to a one-of-a-kind castle. It feels like being in a fairy tale. Even though the visit is quick (40 min), the use of an audio guide that explains the uniqueness of this castle is essential (but I also think mandatory). The cost is fair, given the uniqueness of this experience: be careful though because different categories of people, especially students, enjoy special discounts.
The host was outstanding she even gave us a ride to the castle to make sure we made it on time for the tour..we have a special needs son who walks slow..great service and highly recommend! Great historical your!
The experience is undoubtedly breathtaking; you arrive at this site with an iconic castle to see, that of Walt Disney. The internal tour can be a bit stressful; you must arrive precisely at your designated entry time, otherwise you cannot enter. Then the tour begins and lasts half an hour. Inside, everything is beautiful, but the speed at which the guide goes does not allow you to appreciate certain things, and especially does not permit you to linger on something that interests you. The parking is convenient but expensive. Also, where to catch the bus to get up there should be taken into account.
The castle itself was beautiful and impressive. The tour itself was over-organised in German. Everything timed to the minute and the hiking trails cordoned off to the inch. The guide was a listening device and we got a German apathetic escort. I think we were outside for another hour and that for 35€ pp.
You can reach the parking lot by car or bus. And there, take a local bus for €2.50 to the base of the castle.
If you like Disney World and being shuttled around on a bus, this is the activity for you! This activity was geared towards tourists. They forced you into timed tickets with a huge gap between so you have plenty of time to eat in their restaurants and shop at their kiosks for souvenirs. There is also a very long line for the bus to the bigger castle. It's a straight uphill walk about a mile, so we chose to bus up (€3.50) and walk down. We did enjoy the audio tour and the guide. And, it's a German "Bucket List" site, so lower your standards and you'll have a fun day Also, there was lots of traffic and it took way longer than we expected to get there from Salzburg.
