Nazca Lines and Dune Buggy (Huacachina) from Ica

The Nazca Lines are a unique place in the world, full of mystery and mysticism, wonderful strokes of immense figures and lines, of spectacular perfection. We will visit the Huacachina Oasis where the huge dunes that surround the lagoon allow visitors to practice one of the most fascinating sports in the area, we are referring to the rides in the famous sand carts and the board sport on sand, popularly called Sandboarding .

Our staff will pick you up from the hotel in Ica or from the bus station in Ica, then we transfer you in our tourist vehicle (group service) to the Nasca airport, which is located 150 kilometers from the Ica city center (2hrs 30min). We will go directly to the Nasca airport which is very close to the city of Nasca. Later we will start our flight to the Nazca Lines from Nasca Airport (The duration of the flight is between 30 to 35 minutes approximately). The first figure we will see from the air will be the whale, a great marine divinity located on the east side of the archaeological complex. In order to observe each figure, our pilot will fly over each design in circles. At the end of the overflight of the Nasca lines, then we return to the Nasca airport to relax and recover energies. We will be able to use the restrooms and get some drinks for the return trip to Ica. Finally we will return to the city of Ica (Huacachina), which is 2 hours and 30 minutes away.
Finally we will go to the Huacachina Oasis, which is located just 5 km from the Ica city center. We will go to our Huacachina office (La Casa de Bamboo) where visitors can make use of the restaurant and restrooms. In the Huacachina Oasis we can offer free time to visitors (only in case we have enough time and the passengers wish to take a walk voluntarily). In this famous lagoon visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the place and walk around in search of beautiful photos. At 4:00 pm we will start the Dune Buggy excursion from our Huacachina office (La Casa de Bamboo). The huge dunes that surround the lagoon allow visitors to practice one of the most fascinating sports in the area, we are referring to the rides in the famous sand carts and the table tennis on sand, popularly called Sandboarding. You will also be able to appreciate the sunset at the end of the Dune Buggy tour. 6:00pm (aprox) At the end of the excursion we will transfer our clients to their respective hotel in Ica.

In the event that the passenger's Hotel does not appear on the official list of Hotels, passengers are recommended to send the name and location of the lodging to the tour operator, in order to reconfirm the pick-up and in this way we will be 100% sure of the point collection and avoid possible confusion. The driver of our tourist transport (Ica/Nasca/Ica) is Spanish-speaking, however at Nazca airport we have our Spanish/English-speaking bilingual guides, they will offer assistance to our visitors. In the same way, during the overflight of the Nazca lines, you will have a guide in English and Spanish. Our tour operator will be available at all times to provide any type of assistance via WhatsApp in Spanish and English language. It is important to know that for holidays in Peru (Easter, National Holidays, New Year's Eve and others) Buggie services will have a reduction in time due to the high demand of passengers on holidays in Peru. The Buggies usually carry out the activity for approximately 1 hour. It is recommended to select the last departure between 5:00pm ~ 5:30pm to be able to end the tour with the view of the sunset between 6:00pm to 6:30pm approx (it will depend on the season of the year).

- The flight schedule in Nazca can be affected due to weather conditions, some days there are delays in flights due to fog. In any case, we guarantee that the flight will take place no matter what. We just have to wait for the fog to clear.
- It is mandatory to bring a valid physical passport to the Nazca airport in order to fly over the Nazca Lines.
- Passengers weighing more than 90kg ~ 100kg must pay an extra charge in case of excess weight on the plane.
- In case of flight delays, we will schedule the Buggy tour in the last shift at approximately 5:00 pm with a view of the Sunset.
- Children over 3 years old must pay for their own seat on the flight.
- Do not eat heavy meals before the flight to avoid dizziness.

Little even better: a little more explanation on what happens after what, e.g., we missed the chance to tip out driver bc we thought we would see him again and he would also do the buggy tour with us. =/

This tour was amazing! However, the airplane ride over Nazca made me feel a little nauseous because it turned a lot. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, though. The sand buggy ride in Huacachina was also great. It was really thrilling! Just be careful — you’ll get very sandy.

Wonderful all day. Jorge picked us up to take us to the nazca lines, and it was great the trip with him, then he took us to eat and the lagoon, which was a lot of fun to throw us down the dunes

The operator picked us up really early from our hotel and took us directly to the Nazca Lines Airport. While we waited for our turn to fly, we explored the nearby shops. When they called our names, we were five passengers, the pilot, and the copilot. Please note that they do not allow large backpacks in the small planes. You can only bring one small purse or bag. This is to avoid overloading the plane with unnecessary weight. The flight over the geoglyphs was amazing! The pilot helped us find each figure and explained each one to us. He also told us about their history and the surrounding area. Afterwards, the pilot took some time to take pictures with us and the plane. After the flight, we were taken back to Ica and the meeting point for the dune buggy trip. Our group had about 12 people in it and we were dropped off at the bottom of the dunes of Huacachina. We walked up to where our dune buggy was located and took off from there. The ride was a lot of fun, with lots of fast turns, going up and down the dunes, and even flying over the dunes a couple of times! We then did some sand boarding down a few different dunes, which was also a lot of fun! Finally, we drove over to a clearing from where we watched a spectacular sunset. Throughout the dune buggy trip, we had a lot of opportunities to take pictures and videos. The operator even let us climb over the dune buggy for some cool pictures. We were glad to have brought our ski goggles, which protected our eyes from the sand a lot better than sunglasses would have. Yes, you finish the day with sand everywhere in your body, but that is a tiny price to pay for such a spectacular and fun experience! Highly recommend this combo tour!

I took the tour from my hotel in Nazca and was picked up on an airport shuttle. All in all, it worked out amazingly well. But what unsettled me was that I never saw my guide and didn’t know who exactly I was travelling with. Nevertheless, the trip was fun and recommended. Even if the sightseeing flight over the lines passes very quickly and the lines are sometimes difficult to see. Nevertheless, I would recommend starting the tour from Huacachina / Ica as it ends there as well. I was then able to take the bus back to Nazca and that took forever due to the roadblock!
Thank you very much for your review, Dominic. Our tour starts in Ica/Huacachina and ends at the same pickup point. In your case, your pick-up was at a hotel in Nazca and ended in Huacachina. We completed the entire itinerary for the overflight and the desert excursion on Buggies & Sandboarding. We regret the delay due to recent roadblocks, but we managed to reach our destination of Ica via alternate routes.
