Naxos: Inland hike to explore local villages & antiquities

I returned to Naxos with a group of friends specifically to experience some of the interesting hikes and adventures offered by Trekking Hellas Naxos and we weren't disappointed! (We also participated in the Taste of Naxos and Riverbank Adventure tours.) It was fascinating to walk amongst ancient statues and great to hike in areas of the island that were scenic and remote. Our guide, Anastasia, was well-informed and passionate about archeology. Communication from the company was excellent.

I’m happy we were able to schedule this tour before we went home. Nick and Nektarios were great tour guides and very knowledgeable. Along with seeing the quaint villages, we had a tour of an olive oil mill and got to sample many delicious olives and olive oils. We also visited a distillery for making Kitpon. Loved being able to sample the product! We would definitely recommend this tour! Nick and Nektarios made it a great day!

My husband and I enjoyed the inland hike with Anastasia. It was an extremely windy day, and I felt as if I was going to be blown away at times. Nevertheless, the hike was great. We also had a great lunch at a family-run tavern.

The hike was incredible! We got to see the small villages as well as the wildlife in and around Naxos! Definitely do this excursion when visiting. To top it all off the tour guides are amazing and Nikos and David are like family now.

Anastasia was an amazing guide. She was patient and friendly. She communicated easily with us and picked us up at our lodging on time. The views were amazing. When we went in April, there were so many beautiful spring wildflowers blooming. Anastasia named many of them for us and was patient as we stopped frequently to examine them. She also took pictures with her camera and emailed them to us. The hike was the perfect level of difficulty and length.- about 5 miles. The meal at the village was delicious! I would highly recommend this hike.

This was a great hike. It's quite varied, with mountain views but also passing through fields and villages. Anastasia was a wonderful guide. Especially enjoyed the Kouroi statues, and all the local and historical knowledge imparted. Very personalized and friendly. Also appreciated the meal at the end, where we got to try various local dishes.

We had an amazing time. Anastasia was a great tour guide. She gave us each a walking stick and started us off with confidence. The views were beautiful and the hike was perfect. When there was a difficult area she gave options to our group. Our friends relaxed outside of a church on a hillside as we climbed up a steep hillside through scrabbly bushes to get to a high up peak. Anastasia took pictures along the way. She did such a great job photographing us posing, catching us when we were unaware and also taking beautiful scenic views. There was really no need at all for us to take our own photos, she did a terrific job. The hike ended at a local restaurant for lunch. Anastasia ordered for our group. The food was absolutely amazing and delicious. Our different dietary restrictions were no problem as she ordered various items so that everyone had what they could eat. I hope to get back to Naxos someday to do some more tours with Anastasia.
