Itinerary
Experience Nagoya like a local on a relaxed yet meaningful walking tour. We will reach out after booking with a short questionnaire to tailor the day around your interests. Whether you're curious about traditional temples, bustling food markets, or quiet corners locals love, your route will reflect the real Nagoya. Here are some walkable and free-entry highlights your host may include:
This sacred Shinto site is one of Japan’s most revered, believed to house the legendary sword Kusanagi. Wander its peaceful wooded grounds, pass under centuries-old torii gates, and take in the quiet spiritual atmosphere. Your host will share stories about its role in Japanese mythology and help you notice details most visitors miss.
Step into the vibrant backstreets of Osu—Nagoya’s most eclectic neighborhood. Here, modern subcultures and historical temples coexist. Your host might guide you to a tucked-away shrine, a vintage toy shop, or a hidden café beloved by locals. There’s no entry fee—just your curiosity and appetite for discovery.
This nostalgic covered arcade offers a slower-paced glimpse into local life. Browse artisan storefronts, chat with shop owners, and soak in the charm of pre-war Nagoya architecture. Your host will point out details that bring the area’s quiet resilience and history to life.
Wander this preserved Edo-period merchant street, lined with earthen storehouses and low-slung wooden buildings. It’s a peaceful contrast to the city’s urban sprawl, and your host will share tales of how the area survived past fires and transformations.
Stretch your legs in this green corridor through central Nagoya. While the TV Tower observation deck requires a fee, the park and base area are open to all. Your host may share local anecdotes or help you people-watch from a favorite bench with a snack from a nearby vendor.

All good to be in English. We were able to go down the subway and it helped a lot. Temples well and everything else
We’re glad to hear everything went well on your tour! It’s wonderful that navigating the subway was helpful and that you enjoyed the temples and other sights. Thank you for sharing your feedback!
We went to Atsuta jingu, Nagoya Castle and Shike-michi. It was a bummer that we couldn't enter Nagoya Castle due to repair but we really enjoyed the Hommaru Goten. It was beautiful. Our guide Atsumi was a cute friendly guide. We had good conversations and she helped us getting around, but she didn't have much knowledge about historical background of Nagoya and sites we visited.
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Atsuta Jingu, Shike-michi, and the stunning Hommaru Goten, even though you couldn’t enter Nagoya Castle. It’s wonderful that you had a good time with Atsumi and appreciated her friendly assistance. We’re sorry to hear that the historical background wasn’t as detailed as expected, and we’ll make sure to provide additional support to our guides in this area. We hope the rest of your trip was just as enjoyable!
Marco was a great guide! He recommended plenty of things to do before we met up. He was very flexible and had great recommendations of places to eat and drink. We had a great time with him!
Hi Steven, thanks a ton for your glowing review! We're ecstatic that Marco made your Nagoya tour so special and tailored just for you. We'll be here, ready for your next adventure!
Since I was able to choose what I wanted to see. My guide Takako kindly to me to the Noh theater museum, as there were no Kubuki performances during my stay. It was perfect replacement, great to learn about the History of Noh Japanese Theater. Then we were able to tour Nagoya Castle. Being i was also interested in Japanese stoneware, but no factories were open. She took me to a second hand store. It was wonderful rummaging through all the treasures, where I made many purchases at bargain prices. Takako put a lot of thought into helping me achieve my wish list and making a huge success of my tour time. I highly recommend her as a guide. She was very fun, personable and knowledgeable.
Your feedback warms our hearts! Takako's dedication to customizing your tour to match your interests and taking you to the Noh theater museum and the second-hand store truly made your experience special. We're thrilled you enjoyed your time and found treasures at bargain prices. Your kind words mean the world to us, and we'll make sure Takako receives your praise.
