Bucket list experience. Absolute must when visiting Monument Valley. Breathtaking views and the guide was phenomenal.
The tour we took was for 2.5 hours long and covered areas that were in the more private zone. It was overcast and windy so a lot of sand in the air. Our guide, Nate, was excellent and answered all questions we had and gave us a great synopsis of his people’s history and what this land was to them. Be prepared for some rough roads and trails but Nate knew where he had to drive and make the best ride he could for us. He knew when to interject humor to his presentation. While the views were spectacular he made the whole tour educational and meaningful. A+
MV Tribal Tours was an amazing journey through Monument Valley. Our tour guide Larry was friendly and knowledgeable and told us all the stories of the various rock formations and arches as we drove. We stopped at several rock formations for photos and we even were treated to a beautiful flute concert by Larry once we reached one of the arches where the acoustics were amazing! We also saw some gorgeous wild horses, which was an unexpected treat. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see the true Navajo side of Monument Valley up close and personal with the landscape. A few tips to keep in mind: make sure to wear a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and bring a handheld or neck fan. It gets HOT. Also bottled water is a MUST. The ride is also very bumpy, so be prepared to be jostled around quite a bit. Overall, a great unique experience we will never forget! Thanks Larry!
Highly recommend this tour. We had Travis as our guide and he was outstanding. He took very good care of our group, told us stories about his culture, had a sense of humor and sang and played music for us (guitar, drum and flute). The scenery and the sights we visited were amazing. The entire experience is one that cannot be experienced if driving on your own. This tour is definitely worth taking.
I was disappointed by this tour. The views are amazing and the fact that we were taken to some really cool spots that you can’t get to on your own is why I give it a 3. I was disappointed by our guide who seemed disinterested and didn’t engage with us much. I had hoped that it would include more history of the Native people and cultural relevance. Our guide pointed out names of different rock formations and what movies or commercials had been shot where, but really nothing about history or current realities of living in such a harsh environment. My daughter is very interested in how plants were and are used for dyes, weaving and medicinal and when she tried to ask a question about a plant she felt very shamed by the response she was given. I think it could have been very different with a different guide.
Tour guide Travis was amazing! Did Navajo performances and was full of stories. He is helpful by taking photos of his passengers. We never felt rushed and he truly enjoyed the experience.
Great tour and guide was very engaging
Tour started and ended right on time, we had an amazing tour guide, Sandrea, who was so knowledgeable and friendly! She really made the experience a great one, and we were so happy with the whole thing! Would recommend to anyone!
Excellent tours. Larry and Sandrea provided fascinating information about Navajo history and culture as part of their tours.
What an amazing tour. Forget the self drive option at Monument valley and just do this guided tour. Our guide Travis (?) was excellent. A gentle soul full of interesting stories and local information. And the icing on the cake was that he is also an excellent musician. He went above and beyond to make this tour as informative as possible, from taking us to the perfect sites, to positioning us for the perfect photo opportunity. It was very windy, and we were in an open sided van, but the laughter made up for the sand blasting! I can highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn about Navajo customs and lifestyle.
