Itinerary

120 min

Plateau Mont-Royal district - We'll concentrate our walk around the St-Laurent Blvd. axis and side streets. Meet your guide near Saint-Louis Square. See our Victorian-era architecture, our typical outdoor spiral staircases and learn about the history of the area. We'll explore some green alleys and admire some murals along the route. Learn about the waves of immigrants that shaped the area including the Jewish and Portuguese communities. Soak up the local vibes with plenty of happening cafes, boutiques and restaurants to spot on our walk. Walk past famous Schwartz's Deli. Summer brings pedestrian-only streets that are bustling day and night and that highlight the joie de vivre of Montrealers.

We'll weave and zigzag through the streets of the neighborhood and enjoy the quaint residential architecture. Your local guide will explain the past and present of Mile End and will delve into fascinating stories about its working-class roots, its multiculturalism, its artistic flair and its current popularity as a tech hotspot. A little bit bohemian, a little bit industrial, a lot quirky & charming. Great experience

It was great experience to have the Mile end tour with Catherine. She is very knowledgeable of the area and does a great job explaining things. I got to learn a lot from her even though I have been to Miles End many times before. I highly recommend this tour to all. It is quite fun also to get to taste the local food. Grand merci a Catherine.

We had a wonderful time...

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our tour guide , Katherine, was fantastic and so knowledgeable. We learned about history of the area, architecture, and the cultural aspects of the ever changing neighborhoods. We especially loved seeing the murals all over the area. We were all introduced to some delicious food (bagels and natas). Would highly recommend this tour.

A Lovely Way to Spend an Afternoon

Wonderful tour with Thom, our personable and knowledgeable guide. Thom knew the neighborhoods, took us to local and out of the way places. I knew Thom was a gem when he took us to a little side street to see the print of a cat paw in an old hand-made brick. We learned a lot about Montreal's history, and we were introduced to some of the city's modern efforts to foster community.

Great, fun insight into Montreal hip neighborhoods, histories and vibes.

Great insight to the history, growth and vibe of Montreal, as seen through visiting interesting spots in several unique neighborhoods on the Plateau, around Mount Royal. Guide Thom makes all of it come together in a vivid, let me show you up close, way. Very, very good.

Fun way to see Mt Royale

This is a long tour, so wear comfortable shoes and a hat. The bagels were the grand finale and the Portuguese Nata were a lovely start. Our guide was well informed and took great care of everything.

Fascinating tour with Christine

This is a wonderful and fascinating tour. Our guide, Christine, is a great and entertaining teacher. We learned all about the successive waves of immigration that made the Plateau and Mile End what they are, and the architecture, careful urban planning and life of these unique neighborhoods. She's thoughtful and a total pleasure to listen to. For foodies, Catherine will explain all about smoked meat, bagels and poutine, and you'll get a scrumptious bagel and the most delicious Pastel de Natas tart outside of Pirtugal. The three hours fly by. Take this tour! . Jonathan Ben-Asher
