Itinerary
Begin your tour at one of Montreal’s most iconic food institutions, where bagels have been hand-rolled and wood-fired for decades. Watch as fresh bagels are baked in traditional ovens and learn what makes Montreal-style bagels distinct from their New York counterparts—smaller, denser, and slightly sweeter. Enjoy a freshly baked bagel while your guide introduces the story of Montreal’s Jewish community and how it helped shape the city’s culinary identity.
As you walk through Mile End, your guide will point out vibrant street art, historic buildings, and local hotspots. Learn how this neighbourhood evolved into one of Montreal’s most creative and culturally rich districts.
Step into a classic Montreal deli for what many consider the city’s signature dish: smoked meat. Learn how this delicacy is cured, spiced, and steamed to perfection before being served on rye bread.
Walk past historic streets and murals as your guide shares stories of immigration, cultural blending, and how Mile End became a hub for artists, musicians, and food lovers alike.
Visit a local favorite known for serving fresh gnocchi straight from a takeaway window. This simple yet beloved dish reflects the strong Italian influence in the neighbourhood.
Cross Saint Laurent Boulevard, historically known as “The Main,” which divides Montreal’s east and west sides. Your guide will explain its importance as a cultural and linguistic boundary, and how it became a central meeting point for diverse immigrant communities.
Sample traditional dishes while learning about the waves of immigration that brought these flavors to the city and how they continue to influence Montreal’s food scene today.
No visit to Quebec is complete without trying poutine. Enjoy this classic dish made with crispy fries, cheese curds, and rich gravy while learning how it evolved from a humble snack into a national icon.
End your tour with a relaxing stop for espresso and dessert at a local café. This final tasting reflects Montreal’s European café culture and provides the perfect opportunity to unwind and ask your guide for additional recommendations.

We had an incredible experience. Our tour guide, Evelyn, was very knowledgable, a great storyteller and most importantly fun! We learned a lot. We also sampled some incredible food. I’d recommend this tour to anyone visiting Montreal who would like a taste of what this great city has to offer.
Very knowledgeable and fun tour! We tried 6 different types of food and learned about Montreal culture! Very informative- we learned a lot about Montreal culture that we wouldn’t have otherwise known.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting facts about the neighborhood, cultural traditions and food! Honestly there were too many restaurants and not enough time to sit and enjoy the food! There were 5 stops and A LOT of food! I was unable to eat anything at stops 3 and 4 and I was very careful of what I consumed prior to that! The smoked meats and poutine were the most appreciated!
Great experience tasting a variety of foods. Loved learning about the history and architecture of the area. Food portions were big but not enormous.
The food was wonderful and Evelyn was a fantastic tour guide. She was knowledgeable and extremely passionate about Montreal.
A truly superior tour. I not only learned about Montreal food, why certain foods are popular. I learned about the ethnic neighborhoods now and their history. This was probably the most enlightening and entertaining of the 4 tours I took in Montreal. And most important, the food was delicious. Bagels, Greek food, smoked meat, poutine and ice cream. You will finish quite full and very satisfied.
Coming out on top across four Montreal tours is no small thing, and weaving the food itself together with the story of the ethnic neighborhoods and why certain dishes took root here clearly made for something genuinely special. 🥯
Great tour from start to finish! The guide hit every promised stop and shared a knowledgeable and personal narrative about the food, the history of migration to Montreal, and even sprinkled in some interesting facts about the local architecture. All in all, a fun and inspiring experience that we highly recommend. One tip: make sure to arrive hungry, because you will get a lot of food!
🏙️ Montreal has so much layered into it and it seems like this tour did it justice.

This was an excellent tour. Evelyn my tour guide was amazing. Great company. I learnt so much about the history of Montreal and Canada as well as the delicious food I was eating. All the food was awesome. The Mile End is a really interesting area to explore and feels like a microcosm to understanding the wider history of Montreal.
We'll make sure Evelyn knows what a fantastic impression she made! 🍁 So glad the Mile End food tour brought Montreal's history and culture to life for you!
