Normally Viator tours are great. This was a Disappointing day

Website said tour starts at 9. Email arrived day before saying start was 9:15-9:30. Naturally they waited til 9:30. An Earlier start and no surprise factory stop would have avoided 33° heat. The web description did not indicate the stop for pottery and olive oil shopping. We spent an hour there when I didn’t come to shop. The tour guide didn’t use listening devices. It was difficult to hear her from the back of such a large group. Especially in old Towne where other voices bounced off the walls. The walking tour was 20 minutes of walking/talking and a hour to shop. I regret leaving my stuff on the bus. I could have left then. When I purchased the 6.5 hour tour I figured we would be back by 3:30 leaving time for a quick swim before going back on ship. But bus returned us at 4:30. All in all a long hot day with lots of driving for what we saw. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and humourous. No complaints there.

Operator response

Thank you for your kind words about our guide. Please allow us to address the concerns raised: 1. We reserve a 30-minute pickup window for collecting cruise passengers, in full accordance with the “Meeting and Pickup” section of the tour description. If you prefer not to wait for fellow cruise passengers disembarking, we strongly recommend considering a private tour rather than a shared tour. 2. The 30-minute visit to Savvas Ceramics is clearly listed in the tour itinerary. We visit this workshop in order to experience authentic Greek pottery skills, which have remained largely unchanged since ancient times and are an important part of Greek culture. 3. Please note that we do not use headsets for small groups. In order to hear the guide clearly, guests need to be able to follow the standard group pace and remain with the group, rather than falling behind due to limited walking ability. 4. The “Additional Info” section of the tour description clearly states that this tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for travelers with limited walking ability. 5. Allowing guests to leave personal belongings on the bus is a gesture of goodwill. However, we may need to reconsider this practice if we continue receiving such feedback. When booking future activities through Viator, we strongly recommend basing your expectations on the tour description, itinerary, and restrictions, rather than on personal assumptions. Safe travels.

Family-friendly and well paced

This tour worked nicely for our family group. The stops were spaced out well, and there was enough time at each location. Lindos was especially memorable for the views, and the Old Town was fun to walk through. It didn’t feel too long or tiring.

Worked Well Around a Busy Schedule

Had limited time and this fit perfectly into a free day. Everything ran on time and was clearly organized. Some stops felt quick, but still worth visiting. A practical and enjoyable option.

Comfortable Trip for Families

Traveling with family, we found this quite convenient. Transport was comfortable and timing was clear. Not too stressful, even with a full schedule. Some shorter stops, but nothing that felt rushed in a bad way. A nice overall experience.

Packed Day but Worth It

In one day you really cover a lot. Some stops felt short, but that’s expected with this kind of tour. The local shop visit was actually a highlight, not something we expected to enjoy that much.Guide was knowledgeable and kept things moving smoothly. Overall, a very solid day out.

Guide as Guardian.

There service peaked with our guide. He saw an elderly couple at the Lindos Acropolis struggling in the heat on the steep ascent. He quickly changed the pace, located places to rest that were shaded, and carried their water. Sofia intervened firmly and Courteously, defusing the situation in Greek when a pushy street vendor became combative with our group. A typical tour became genuinely safe and comfortable thanks to this degree of attentive, protective service.

Handled Well

There were a few delays, as it to be expected on packed tour day. What mattered was how it was handled: straightforward communication with no uncertainty. No one was left wondering what to do. Even if plans changed slightly, the overall attitude remained calm.
