We enjoyed the variety of places visited on this Malta tour. Mdina was calm and visually impressive, while Valletta was more active and lively. The only limitation was the short time at each stop, which made it feel slightly rushed at times. Still, for a cruise passenger schedule, it provides a good snapshot of the island.
This tour gave us a helpful introduction to Malta’s key highlights. Mdina and Valletta were both interesting in very different ways. Mdina felt like stepping back in time, while Valletta had more movement, shops, and harbor views. The itinerary is quite structured, but that helps ensure you see the main highlights during a short cruise stop.
My partner and I chose this tour during our cruise stop in Malta, and it turned out to be a pleasant and scenic day. Mdina was especially memorable with its quiet streets and timeless atmosphere. Valletta gave us beautiful sea views and a more lively environment. The pace is structured, so it’s not a slow romantic walk, but it still allowed for some nice shared moments and photos together.
This was our first time visiting Malta, and the tour gave us a balanced overview of the island’s main attractions. Mdina was particularly memorable for its quiet charm. Valletta offered more open views and a sense of local life. It’s more of a highlights tour than an in-depth experience, but it’s suitable for first-time visitors.
TripAdvisor sent us an email the day before this shore excursion that TripAdvisor canceled it. Too late to replace it. Terrible timing, as TripAdvisor and the operator both knew the cruise was on a sea day and we would not see the TripAdvisor email until we pulled into port for that morning's tour. Don't sign up for this "Cruise Passenger's Dream Day" unless you want a nightmare.
Please note that the cancellation was made with a full refund, in full accordance with TripAdvisor’s cancellation policy. We strongly recommend that you carefully read and understand the cancellation policy, which is clearly stated and fully available on the website. Safe travels!
As a solo traveler, I found this Malta cruise tour very easy to join and well managed from start to finish. The port pickup was clearly arranged, and the group felt comfortable. Mdina stood out as a peaceful and unique place to explore, while Valletta offered more activity and cultural landmarks. It’s not an in-depth experience, but it’s a safe and convenient way to see the main highlights of Malta in a limited time.
Interesting tour of Malta . The tour guide provided details on its history and the main historical site visited. The tour guide also added some humor to her comments which made the tour most enjoyable.
Unfortunately, this was one of the least enjoyable tours of our trip. The main issue was that no audio guide system or headsets were provided. The guide did not use a microphone either, which made it very difficult to hear the explanations. In a large group, this becomes a significant problem. Unless you stay right next to the guide at all times, you miss most of the information being shared. Valletta is a fascinating city with a rich history, and we were looking forward to learning more about it. However, because we could barely hear the guide throughout the tour, the experience felt frustrating and, at times, quite boring. We found ourselves missing much of the historical context that should have made the visit more engaging. Having experienced similar tours in other destinations with audio guide systems and headsets, we can confidently say that they make a huge difference, especially in large groups and busy tourist areas. Without them, it is very difficult to follow along and fully enjoy the experience. For this reason, we would not recommend this tour in its current format. If you are booking a walking tour in Valletta, we strongly suggest choosing one that provides headsets or an audio guide system so that you can actually hear and enjoy the information being shared.
We regret to hear about your disappointment. However, according to feedback received from other tour participants, the group had to wait for you at several stops. Please note that a group of 14 participants is generally considered a small group rather than a large one. Headsets are not required for a group of this size when participants remain with the guide and follow the standard group pace. In any event, headsets have a limited operating range and may not function when participants fall significantly behind the group. The “Additional Information” section of the tour description clearly states that this tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or walking difficulties. For future bookings through Viator, we kindly recommend reviewing the tour inclusions, restrictions, and physical requirements carefully in order to select an activity suited to your needs and expectations. Safe travels.
Malta is not to be missed. Our guide was very experienced and through. She took us into Mdina and Valetta. Each city was different. Our favorite was Mdina because of the midevil architecture. Valetta had a great street scene. Thank you for a lovely day.
This is a good tour and the guide was extremely knowledgeable however it was very hard to hear her. I would recommend having a hearing device so the whole group can hear.
