Join us on an unforgettable evening adventure to witness one of Madeira’s most breathtaking Sunset from the heights of Pico do Arieiro. We’ll start by picking you up from your accommodation in Funchal, Caniço or Câmara de Lobos (city center) Then, we continue the journey to the majestic Pico do Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest peak. Here, you’ll experience part of the famous PR1 trail,(Self-Guided) walking approximately 1.2 km each way (1h30m), leading you to the incredible Ninho da Manta Viewpoint and the renowned “Stairway to Heaven”. As the day ends, prepare to be amazed by the colors of the sunset painting the sky and mountains in golden tones. After soaking in this magical moment for about 30 minutes, we’ll comfortably return you to the nearest point of your accommodation. We’ll start by picking you up from your accommodation in Funchal, Caniço, or Câmara de Lobos (city center). From there, we’ll make our way to the breathtaking Pico do Arieiro, where dramatic mountain peaks rise above the clouds
Stepping out at Pico do Arieiro feels like entering another world — towering ridges, endless valleys, and the ever-changing play of light and shadow create a view you’ll carry with you long after the trip ends
Your adventure continues with a scenic hike to the Ninho da Manta viewpoint, where sweeping views reveal the raw beauty of Madeira’s central mountains. On the route, you’ll cross the iconic “Stairway to Heaven”, a perfect picture spot where the horizon blends seamlessly with the sky
Back to Pico do Arieiro, you’ll settle in to watch one of the most breathtaking Sunsets on the island. The mountains fade into soft silhouettes while the sun slowly sinks beyond the horizon and the sky explodes in color, a sight you’ll remember forever.

Sadly we couldn’t go to the peak as the weather was too wet and foggy, Luís however put on a great alternative where we followed the sunset along the coast and took in some incredible sights. Did feel a little rushed… maybe less places but more time BUT I do appreciate he was slightly winging it due to the last minute change of your. It’s just means I have to come back to Madeira to do the full tour. Davide was great, loved chatting to him about his music. Gutted to have missed the stairway to heaven but can’t be helped

This was the most magical experience - it was so beautiful, I got emotional ❤️ It started off foggy with poor visibility (even so, it was still amazing) then after about an hour the fog just parted and the views were unreal!
Unfortunately due to bad weather on the mountains the originally trip could not take place, instead an alternative tour of the South West of the island culminating in a sunset viewing was offered and accepted. Informative and friendly guide and a pleasant end to another sunny day on Madeira.
We were meant to be going into the mountains but were offered an alternative route because of fog. It was great! We stopped at various viewpoints along the SW coast and ended seeing sunset at a beautiful spot. Our driver Davide was lovely, chatty and polite. It was a great trip.
This was a good time, the driver was a hoot and the people were very friendly. I will say if you are out of shape, do not go all the way getting back was brutal as it is all up hill/steps but I got some great photos. I was sore the next day though….
Great experience and small group of people. Very smooth experience with a great driver, with good humour. Would definitely recommend if you want to see the stairway of heaven. This section is roughly around 2.5km return but definitely steep up and downs to feel like you’ve have a hiking experience.
Very beautiful experience and very beautiful excursion! Our guide Luís was great and made our time magical from the pickup at the apartment until the return, this gentleman is very good at making the moment even better!
Great views and Luis was excellent at telling us where to walk and local information. Make sure good shoes and a jacket as windy up there
Would highly recommend this tour, we opted for the sunset tour, we were picked up from the hotel, with a little stop off on the way for a glass of poncha, Luís was a great tour guide, and it was nice being in a small group, if you want to do this experience book with Luis, you won’t be disappointed
