Madeira sunrise (Ponta de Sao Lourenco) Private tour

We cannot say enough about our adventure with Claudio. He was knowledgeable, funny, adventurous and so easy to be with. We traveled as a family of four: my husband and myself along with our two daughters 15 & 18. Claudio arranged for us to do the sunrise hike (heading out in the dark with headlamps - SO FUN!) then took us to a local bakery for b'fast. We then headed to PR1 for the afternoon hike which ended at his favorite spot for amazing sandwiches and snacks. We wouldn't have enjoyed our experience - or learned as much - with anyone else. Honestly, treat yourself to this memorable experience. It absolutely made our trip to Madeira!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolutely brilliant time hiking with Cláudio. From the moment we met him, he was friendly, funny, and very easy to get along with. He is clearly a very experienced guide and shared lots of interesting information throughout the hikes. We did both the Sunrise Hike and the Stairway to Heaven experience, and both were excellent. The views were incredible, and Cláudio made the whole experience even better with his knowledge, humour, and professionalism. Claudio is truly remarkable! From start to finish, my partner and I were completely blown away by our private tour. From the moment he picked us up, Claudio shared fascinating insights about Madeira’s local area and history which we absolutely loved. His passion for the island really shines through. It felt like being in school, but in the most fun and engaging way possible! Not only did we visit the “stairway to heaven” and watch a breathtaking sunset, but we also enjoyed a mini hike along the way. Claudio helped us truly connect with the island its tropical nature, the magic of the plants, the scents, and textures. It was an unforgettable sensory experience and the perfect cherry on top. Really lovely experience with beautiful views. Cláudio, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He was able to adapt the hike due to the weather conditions and we saw the most gorgeous sunrise. I have no hesitation in recommending this activity.

Claudio was a fantastic guide. From the outset we had clear communication with an early pick up time. Claudio was waiting for us outside our hotel and drove us to the start of the hike. He provided us with head torches and in the dark we set out on the trail. It was reassuring to have him showing the way. He gave us a lot of information about the flora, fauna and wildlife. We then stopped at a special viewing place to watch the amazing sunrise with stunning views. Claudio had tea or coffee to share with us. The hike back revealed the beautiful landscape we had just walked in the dark and many, many photos were taken. A safe journey back to the hotel brought us back for about 9.30am. Followed up with text messages from Claudio for discussed walk and restaurant recommendations and photos. We would highly recommend Claudio for any hike and will be sure to do so to our friends. We had a great morning with Claudio, he’s very warm, super knowledgeable and adaptive. He pre reviewed the weather multiple times and found us the perfect spot for sunrise on what was supposed to be a cloudy day! He also picked us up from our air b and b even though it was out of the way and not on the pick up list. I had done this hike before with him with my friend and enjoyed it so much I thought it would be the perfect experience for me and my partner. The hike is accessible, the scenery is beautiful and the morning hike hugely enjoyable. Highly recommend this experience it’s next to none and gives you the true beauty of Madeira. Thanks again! Our experience was amazing and our tour guide Cláudio was amazing and knowledge. He guided us along the hike and took excellent pictures and even gave us tips for Lisbon and eating joints at Madeira during Christmas.

My son and I had an awesome experience with Claudio. Right from the start he was very knowledgeable, confident and had a great understanding of the hike. We had great conversations and he answered all our questions. He is passionate about what he does and that clearly showed in the engagement. After the hike he provided us a ton of recommendations on other places to explore. I would highly recommend Claudia and would love to come back and hike with him in Madeira.

What an amazing hike! We had an early start where Claudio picked us up at the hotel at 5:45 and after a short drive, we got our headlamps on and started our walk. It was a bit trippy not being able to see beyond your spotlit feet and the quiet of the area. The hike itself was more than a casual stroll but completely doable and absolutely worth it. There are stairs, but in spurts, and same for the steep uphill stretches. Right when you want to ask how much more, it evens out for a break. We kept a good pace and for 90% of it, we were completely alone. As we got to the lookout there were maybe 6ish people already there, but spaced out and another 6 or so showed after we arrived. Again, not near us or crowding us. The way back we got to see what we walked through and it was stunning 😍 Claudio had us stop at a few lookout points on the way back where we were able to see different striations across the cliffs. Gorgeous views! We were back at the hotel at 930, plenty of time to catch breakfast 😀. An early wakeup seems odd for a vacation but it is absolutely worth it. Amazing guide and experience! Wear good hiking boots, it's rocky and unstable footing in some areas and bring layers as it's windy up there.
