Itinerary
We will arrive at Rannoch Moor, surrounded by mountainous landscapes, lochs and valleys. We will stop in one of the most beautiful and magical valleys in Scotland, Glencoe Valley, where the bloody massacre of the MacDonald clan took place. You will be able to take some great photos of The Three Sisters and also try to spot some of the famous scenery from famous films such as Harry Potter and James Bond.
We will make another quick stop to admire the Three Sisters, three unusual rock formations. The pointy ridges are named Gearr Aonach (short ridge), Aonach Dubh (black ridge) and Beinn Fhada (long ridge).
We will then continue with our trip to Loch Ness and pass through Fort William. The Caledonian Canal and the Fort Augustus lock system will be our next destination. There will be plenty of time to visit the canal and to go on the Loch Ness cruise if you choose to do so. Don’t forget your camera! From this viewpoint you can get some amazing shots of the lake and its landscape. The ticket for the one hour cruise on Loch Ness is not included in the price of the day trip (ticket price for clients of LochNessBus.com is: £18 adults / £11 children from 5 to 15 years old / £ 16.00 students and senior citizens - over 60). There is no family discount available. Payment for the attractions may only be made in card in order to be able to get the group discount. IMPORTANT INFORMATION The cruise will not be available on 26th December.
After leaving Loch ness, we will make our way to the Commando Memorial, a monument dedicated to brave soldiers in World war Two. From here, if the mist allows, you can see the magnificent Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom.
Our journey will continue on Cairngorms National Park. Loch Lagann and Ardverikie Castle will be some of the places we will see on our way to Pitlochry. This village is full of beautiful Victorian houses and will be our last stop before our return to Edinburgh. You will have time to enjoy a drink in one of its many pubs.
On our journey back to Edinburgh you will be able to enjoy the change in scenery between the Highlands and the Lowlands and also see the 19th century Forth railway bridge that crosses the Firth of Forth, yet another of Scotland’s contributions to the World Heritage List. Once back in the Edinburgh there will still be time for us to offer you sometips on how to spend your time in Scotland’s capital city.

We had an amazing tour. Tom Chapman was the tour guide and the bus driver whom I can’t remember his name was very helpful and friendly. They are both very patient and professional, always smiling. We enjoyed our day tour and will surely be back.
Adam was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable guide. He loved his job and it showed. He was a very engaged and enthusiastic storyteller, and I would highly recommend this tour for not only the fun stories, but also the places he told them in.
This bus trip takes you out of the city of Edinburgh and into the magical Scotland highlands. The views are outstanding. Pictures truly do not do it justice. Our tour guide Thomas was phenomenal and very informative. Driver (Chris I think) was so great! I learned so much on this trip. It was a beautiful outing. Keep in mind it's a long day trip (12 to 13 hours) but the views are totally worth it.
Our tour guide Callum did a fantastic job at sharing the history of the highlands. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to fill a day of their trip with rich history!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great experience and that Callum made the history of the Highlands come alive during your tour — we’ll be sure to share this with him. It means a lot to know you would recommend us. We hope to welcome you on board again for another unforgettable Scottish adventure!
The tour guide was excellent. Not a lot of time in Pitlochery. Loch Ness was ok but if you don't opt to pay for the cruise just know you'll have ample time on your hands and there isn't much to do for that extended period of time. Overall it was a convient way to view a bit of the Highlands without the strain of driving yourself : )
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Loch Ness Bus! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that your guide made such a positive impression — we’ll be sure to pass on your kind words. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the time in Pitlochry and the Loch Ness stop. We understand that experiences can vary, and your comments are truly valuable to us. It’s lovely to know that the tour gave you a comfortable way to enjoy a glimpse of the Highlands without the challenge of driving. We hope to welcome you on board again for another Scottish adventure soon!
A long day travelling but you will see and experience so much of the Highlands of Scotland and receive great commentary along the way
Beautiful tour! Felt truly blown away by scotland. This was my first time and im so happy i went. I think this tour will ruin other tours for me lol because i mean.. how does it get better?
Thank you so much for the nice experience, the travel group team, did a wonderful job, and we enjoyed the whole tour. Need to appreciate, nice explanation with historic background, safe driving, freedom given to walk around with good time keeping. Thank you again
Very busy day, the journey is long but you see beautiful landscapes and the guide is very prepared and kind.
Lane was an excellent driver & tour guide. He was very knowledgeable & funny. Take a portable charger because you'll take loads of pictures. Glencoe was so packed with other tour busses, so Lane took us down to another beautiful spot for pictures. Try the whiskey & chocolate ice cream combo in Pitlochry, so yummy.
