Itinerary
Pass through the breathtaking Serra de Sintra, also known as the Sintra Mountains, a protected natural landscape near Lisbon known for its green hills, dramatic valleys, ancient rock formations, and unique blend of nature, history, and legend.
Hidden near Sintra’s historic center, the Sabuga Fountain is a quiet 17th-century spot known for its fresh, mineral-rich water and local traditions. Long associated with legends of healing and wellbeing, this peaceful fountain offers a charming pause along the route and a glimpse into Sintra’s cultural heritage.
From the mountain road, enjoy a distant view of the Moorish Castle, an ancient fortress whose stone walls stretch across the hills of Sintra. We do not visit the castle or stop at its entrance, but this scenic viewpoint offers a great opportunity to admire its impressive silhouette and understand its historical role in the region.
Visit Pena Palace, Sintra’s most iconic landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your Essential Ticket is included and grants access to the palace interior and surrounding park. Your guide will share historical context throughout the park and terraces, while the palace interior visit is self-guided, allowing you to explore at your own pace.
Enjoy a walking stop in Sintra’s historic center, with time to explore its charming streets, traditional shops, and emblematic squares. This stop offers a relaxed opportunity to experience the village atmosphere, taste local sweets, try a traditional ginjinha, and browse Portuguese artisan shops.
During your free time in Sintra’s historic center, you may visit Piriquita, a famous pastry shop founded in 1862 and known for traditional local sweets such as travesseiros and queijadas. This stop is optional, and any food or drinks are not included in the tour price.
Stop for lunch in Colares, a traditional village in the Sintra region known for its vineyards, rural landscapes, and authentic local atmosphere. Guests will have time to enjoy Portuguese cuisine at a local restaurant, with options that may include fresh fish, regional meat dishes, and vegetarian choices. Please note that lunch is not included in the tour price.
Discover Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Portugal and continental Europe. Enjoy breathtaking views and take unforgettable photos at this iconic location, often described as the “end of Europe,” where dramatic cliffs meet the vast Atlantic Ocean, providing a memorable and scenic conclusion to the journey.
Drive past Guincho Beach, one of Portugal’s most scenic Atlantic beaches, known for its wild dunes, ocean views, and connection to surfing and wind sports. This is a panoramic drive-by only, with no scheduled stop.

The dramatic name Boca do Inferno—meaning “Mouth of Hell”—comes from the striking rock formation carved into the cliffs by the relentless force of the Atlantic Ocean. When the waves crash into the cavern below, the water explodes through the opening in a powerful and dramatic display, creating one of the most impressive natural spectacles along the Cascais coastline.
Cascais marks the final scenic highlight of the tour. We’ll make a 30-minute stop in this charming coastal town, giving you time for a short walk through the historic center, browse local shops, and enjoy the seaside atmosphere near the bay. Known for its elegant charm, ocean views, and relaxed coastal lifestyle, Cascais offers a pleasant closing moment before the return journey to Lisbon.

Must do when in Portugal. Leo was our guide and he was an absolute gem. He is very knowledgeable and a great driver. I loved that he gave us space and brought us to this amazing restaurant for lunch. Peña Palace was worth it. Such a magical place.

Excellent tour. Small group was only 4 people, more like a private tour. Gabriel was a wonderful guide. Lots of information given at all the stops and we even got to skip long lines at Pena Palace. The lunch restaurant he brought us to was delicious…. fish, cod cakes and special salad. It was one of our best days.

Gabriel was an absolute delight! He’s undoubtedly the ideal tour guide, not just for Sintra, but also for exploring such breathtaking and picturesque locations that will forever be cherished by my husband and me. We had an incredible time with Gabriel, and I highly recommend choosing him for any future tours.

Tour was great as was our tour guide Gabriel. Our tour guide did a great job navigating the traffic due to a parade and adjusting the tour to ensure we got to see everything. The gardens at the Palace were spectacular.

Loved the tour. We had a great guide and the others on the tour were enjoyable. Keep in mind in case anyone has any mobility issues, that the palace is at the top of a hill and you have to walk up a steep road to get there. There is a shuttle that can take you most of the way, but still a lot of uphill walking.

We stopped at many places on the trip but the very best was Pena Palace by far!! The Palace is beautiful, our guide did an excellent job giving us the details, as a group we were able to skip the line a bit so more time to see the palace. We had a very nice lunch at a local restaurant, beware the price of individual butters. Stop on the coast and the beach and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was more than willing to take our pictures at the stops.

Don't miss the Pena Palace and Cascais. This was definitely one of the most enjoyable days of our visit to Portugal. A small tour is the way to go. We enjoyed it all and did not feel rushed. Guide was very accommodating to our needs.
