Itinerary
Your guide will meet you at the train station, before whisking you away to Lauterbrunnen.
With the accompaniment of an expert guide, this three-part Alpine adventure tour will commence with a tranquil rail journey through the Swiss mountains to the blissful town of Lauterbrunnen, nestled in between the Swiss Alps and enveloped by unspoiled lush valleys. While wandering through the idyllic village, our guide will unveil the area's extensive history, including the first evidence of the municipality's existence in 1240. Here, you will encounter the magical Staubbach Falls. In this fairytale landscape, a 297m (974ft) tall, never-ending cascade of glacier waterfalls from an overhanging cliff — this visit poses an excellent opportunity to capture the waterfall’s natural spectacle on camera! During this stop, our guide will recount the chronicles of Staubbach Falls's past, enabling you to gain exclusive insight into its history and cultural impacts, including the tale of how its magnificence inspired Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's poem "Gesang der Geister über den Wassern” in 1779
The tour will continue with a scenic trip to Kleine Scheidegg, a regal mountain pass surrounded by theatrical glacier landscapes. Amidst the journey, you’ll pass through Wengen, a serene ski village that offers panoramic views of the region’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. During this moment, the guide will share the area’s abundant history, enabling you to discover tales of its development during the 19th century. Reaching Kleine Scheidegg, there will be a rare opportunity to take in the surrounding mountain peaks, including the Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger. Our guide's compelling commentary will accompany astonishing Alpine views. They will share the remarkable history behind each peak and detail interesting facts about the neighboring Jungfrau Railway, which reaches the top of Europe.
The final exploration will commence in Grindelwald's charming main town, which is surrounded by the Bernese Alps. Throughout the discovery, the guide will trace back the multifaceted history and cultural heritage of the region. From the discovery of Neolithic tools and Roman coins to the town’s surge in winter tourism during the late 1800s, Grindelwald weaves an intricate tapestry of past happenings that have played a pivotal role in shaping the town into the popular destination it is today.
After a full day of adventure, your guide will return you safely to Basel.

This is an excellent tour! Our guide, Mary, ensured we were catching the correct trains, and was flexible with our wishes. I traveled with my 82 year old mother who uses a cane, and Mary was very careful with us. Mary gave us personalized service. We had a private tour which allowed us to adjust our itinerary. We highly recommend this tour. Request Mary as she has a wealth of information about the area.
We had an awesome time! The views were spectacular. Our guide Gina was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Highly recommend her! You’ll enjoy the waterfalls and the scenery. But most of all is the once in a lifetime experience to see the Top of Europe.
Very nice tour. It was fun to get to ride the trains while in Switzerland. Seeing the Alps was amazing. There was snow falling when we got there and eating lunch with a beautiful view of the mountains was a once in a lifetime experience.
Very poor instructions from operator. Operator instructs you to meet at train station at 9:30. That's it. Nothing more. Good luck. The operator does not tell you where to meet the guide at train station. (There is a meeting point at train station, but that is not where you find the guide....really?). Also the train leaves at 9:30, so if you are waiting at the train station meeting point, at 9:30, you will miss the tour. And lose $500, because of the horrible instructions. Also the operator replied that it was my fault because I did not reply to an e mail three weeks ago. But I looked at the e mail again, and there is no request for anything, and there is no information on where to meet the guide. I suspect many people miss these tours and lose their money, but its the operators fault for misleading meeting time and location. It's like he is trying to confuse you so that you miss the tour and he keeps your money. I also set up a cheese tasting with him the next day (bad idea, but the guide highly recommended it) and when I showed up on time at 5:15, he sent me a message that he would be there in 30-45 minutes (yeah sure....cancel!) I recommend that Viator cancel this operator. Do NOT book this tour or use this operator. On the other hand, based on my frantic last minute effort to get more detail on where to meet at the train station, I luckily connected with the tour guide Gina on the train platform just minutes before the train left. Gina was awesome and very understanding (not her fault). 5 stars for Gina the tour guide, zero stars for the operator and owner.
We had the most wonderful experience with Leighton travelling to the Jaungfrau Enjoying all the wonders of Switzerland in winter
My private tour to Lauterbrunnen, Kleine Scheidegg, and Grindelwald was incredible. I hiked up to Staubbach Falls, took in stunning panoramic mountain views, and experienced the charm of Grindelwald. Gus provided an unforgettable experience that was seamless and truly delightful sharing educational info, highlighting key view points and ensuring plenty of photo opportunities. I highly recommend this tour to experience the Swiss Alps!!
