Las Palmas Old Town: Walking Tour

Description
The Vegueta Historic Quarter, a designated Historic Artistic Site since 1973, is the foundational jewel of Las Palmas. Join our expert guides for a delightful 90-minute walking tour of its highlights. Vegueta is the nucleus where Juan Rejón’s troops established their camp in 1478, lending the city its name. As the first Castilian settlement in the Atlantic, it became the island's political, religious, and administrative center, and the crucial springboard for the conquest of the Canary Islands. Our stroll includes: - The picturesque Calle de los Balcones. - Plazas de San Martín and Pilar Nuevo. - The historic Rua dos Portugueses and the 15th-century San Martín Hospital. - Winding alleys showcasing the earliest noble houses built after the conquest. The tour culminates in the magnificent Plaza de Santa Ana, a monumental ensemble of emblematic buildings, before concluding near the Casa del Gobernador, famously known as the Columbus Museum (admission not included).

A very pleasant tour around Las Palmas old town. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave lots of information. The tour took in a church for around 10 minutes.
We visited the highlights, tour was very interactive, tour guide was knowledgeable
Nice neighborhood with beautiful architecture. Unfortunately surrounded by hideous buildings. The rest of town is astonished.
Make sure you really can walk or get around. It was an excellent time but don't fool yourself because it's not fair to others when we have to wait longer than usual.
That it is combined with hop in hop off bus tours and 30+ people will be on this tour so you can’t really see much of the old town or hear.
Guide was great, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. The tour was well organized and had some interesting facts. Difficult to confirm location meeting point as the operator didn’t reply to any of my texts. Had to call the operator. It was limited to only one small section of the town. Other than that I would recommend
Arrived early to ensure we had the right meeting place This was a very busy tour with many in the group of all different nationalities. There were no ear pieces or microphones provided, so although Maria did a good job with coordinating everyone a part of the tour was missed & it was a bit disjointed with her addressing the x 2 Spanish people in the group then us - we noticed that people did leave the tour mid point, not sure why. Don’t know the best way to get around this logistical nightmare?? We have been spoilt before with small groups & private tours in the past, so this was probably a factor too. Also timings out, when we booked it was advertised as 90 minutes when in fact it was only 60. Still good value for money though, just would’ve like it a bit more personal! Well done to Maria - it must be daunting to have such large numbers in a group!
Amazing it was really a good insight of las Palmas history and city.recommand highly. Take your time with the tour, she is amazing.
Too many people in this group and hard to hear guide. Head sets might improve the tour experience I guess
The guide was intelligent, well informed, polite and multilingual, but the meeting point was disorganized and chaotic. I wanted a monolingual tour (in Spanish) because it´s boring to hear everything twice, and it wastes time. However the majority of the tour were non Spanish speakers so she had to alternate between English and Spanish, which means everything goes very slowly. Not the guide´s fault … I blame the organizers.
