Different side of Mexico

This tour was a nice break from the beach routine. Las Coloradas looked unreal in person and Rio Lagartos felt quiet and natural compared with Cancun. Angel kept our small group relaxed and the boat part was our favorite. We made a great photo album with the best pics from the trip. The Yucatan definitely deserves all our appreciation. It felt like the kind of place most people miss when the only stay near the hotel.

Operator response

Stepping away from the beach to discover the pink lakes of Las Coloradas and the peaceful nature of Río Lagartos reveals a side of the Yucatán that many travelers never get to experience. We design this full-day journey to blend nature, wildlife and smooth logistics across the region, creating memorable moments both on land and on the water. Angel will be glad to know his relaxed approach helped make the day even more enjoyable, and we’re happy this experience became one of the highlights of your travel photo album. Dreamy tour to Las Coloradas

We visited the famous Las Coloradas lakes, which are seriously pink! The boat trip through the Rio Lagarto mangroves was incredible. We saw so many animals, like stepping into a wildlife documentary! We finished the day with a mud bath. Plus the mud is supposed to be amazing for your skin... This tour was well worth the money... transportation was comfortable and the food was delicious.

Life's best experience 👍👍

Really... I'm done. 👍👍 Actually, I didn't understand why I liked the buckwheat when I looked at it. So when my husband was going to go, I didn't actually make a big bet. It was the best experience of this trip to Cancun. Pink Lake just shot. The lake is pink. The photos are beautiful. It was just like this, and I just lost my mind at the Lagartos boat tour. It was nice to have a beautiful bird sitting on the boat and accompanying us, and it was nice to see the flamingos or crocodiles in close proximity. I hate to go to the zoo because the animals are poor, but it was amazing that I went to meet the children who live well in nature. +It was more fun than I thought to ride a boat. It was a lot more fun than a banana boat that was riding from a dirty place. Maya mud pack was subtle and fun! Take a swimsuit. +Oh, I thought the squirrels were poor in the farm, but the farm is good and the squirrels seemed comfortable, so we had a good time! If you ever come back to Cancun, I would love to visit again. Real Legend Best Experience 👍👍👍

We design this full-day experience to blend nature, wildlife and smooth logistics across the Yucatán Peninsula, allowing guests to experience these protected ecosystems in a more authentic and respectful way. We’re especially happy to hear the wildlife encounters, the Mayan clay experience and the atmosphere of the region made such a strong impression on you. absolutely terrible tour for those staying in Cancun.

If you are picked up in Cancun, the tour stops at Playa del Carmen on the way there and back. Since a single bus covers both departure points, those starting from Cancun end up wasting four hours on the road round trip. This tour is absolutely terrible for those staying in Cancun. Time is precious when traveling.

Operator response

We understand how valuable time is during a trip, especially when staying in Cancun, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. This experience operates as a shared tour covering multiple pickup zones, including Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Because of this, a combined route is necessary, which naturally increases travel time for some guests. Due to the distance, the total duration typically ranges between 12 to 14 hours, including travel time. We make a conscious effort to clearly communicate this in advance so travelers can make an informed decision based on timing and logistics. Many guests still choose this experience for the value it offers and the destinations included, but we do recognize that this format may not be ideal for everyone. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps provide additional clarity for future travelers.

Worth the time and every dollar!

This tour to Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos was absolutely worth the price and long day. We booked it already knowing it would be a full schedule, so we went in prepared for an early start and plenty of driving. Honestly, that mindset helped because what we saw made it all worthwhile. The whole area has a very unique atmosphere. Las Coloradas really stands out in person and Rio Lagartos added a completely different side of the experience with its wildlife and scenery. It felt like visiting places that still have their own character, far from the usual tourist spots. Guide Angel (and our captain) kept everything running OK, shared interesting facts and speech along the way and gave the trip a relaxed enjoyable feel. We got back with a long list of photos and the feeling that we had seen a side of the Yucatan many travelers miss.

Operator response

Going in prepared for a full day and returning with unforgettable views, wildlife moments and a camera full of photos captures exactly why Las Coloradas and Río Lagartos leave such a strong impression. We design this experience to blend nature, local character and smooth logistics across the Yucatán Peninsula, taking travelers beyond the usual tourist spots to places many visitors never get to see. Angel will be glad to know his guidance helped keep the day relaxed and enjoyable, and we appreciate your note about discovering a different side of the region. I fed a frigatebird mid-air! What a day

We're the kind of couple that doesn't mind a long drive as long as the experience delivers and this one definitely did. Las Coloradas is actually a working salt production site which made it even more interesting. Our guide Manual explained how everything works, including how sunlight and microorganisms create those famous pink tones. Not every pool is bright pink, but that didn't take away from howw unique the place feels. We also heard a fun story about pirates once visiting the area. The group wasn't crowded, everything ran on schedule and there were little surprises along the way that made the day feel even more special. Hard to fit it all into one review. Rio Lagartos was a highlight. We expected to see flamingos and maybe a few reptiles, but it turned out to be so much more. At the point, I even fed a pelican mid-flight! Which was incredible. The whole area feels untouched and full of life. Pickup, meals, drinks, guides and the boat ride were all taken care of, with just a small conservation fee paid on site. Very well organized. Tourballoon Travel is an easy recommendation.

Wonderful Trip

The trip was long but the sight seeing is very beautiful. There's a bit of confusion about the order of activities. Otherwise, the food was very nice.

Highly recommended experience!

The entire trip was memorable and unique. Though it was a bit far from Playa del Carmen, I think it's worth the journey. The color of the salt lakes were breathtaking -- I've never seen anything like it! Also the entire Rio Logartos boat ride was beautiful. I went solo and felt safe - the tour guides were attentive and explained things in both Spanish and English. 10/10 would recommend!

A Special 50th Anniversary Trip!

We planned this tour for the last day of our trip to Mexico and it turned out to be the perfect way to wrap everything up. Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos are great for all ages. We actually did it while celebrating my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, which made the whole day even more special. You should be prepared for a full-day travel, but also with the mindset that what you'll see will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so it's totally worth it. The tour's pace isn't rushed, the atmosphere is friendly, entertaining and relaxed. Our guide "Felipe" deserves all the stars. Entrance fees are included, the staff is lovely and very professional.
