We had a great time. This is the second time we have been on the Dixie Dinner Cruise. We enjoyed it more in July because the weather was warmer and we got to stay up on the deck longer. This time around a cold front came in and it was COLD, so I would suggest if it is windy and cold, not to do it. Other than that, it is beautiful. My 2.5 year old grandson stole the show in the dancing room. It was funny.
The food was delicious and the tour across the lake was beautiful as I expected. I appreciated being picked up near my hotel.
Mixed feelings on the food. My wife’s salmon was great. My ribeye steak not so much. I understand that feeding that many people, 150, all at once is a tough task. But, the food was not very hot when it came out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. That being said at the end of service they put down a card that said we should tip them $65 per guest. After paying a fairly high price they were asking for what amounted to a 35% tip. Kind of tacky in my opinion.
The weather was perfect. The dinner and appetizers were served. Immediately. There were plenty of drinks to choose from and the band was fun!
We had requested to be picked up at a defined location at a specific time. The provider didn’t show up for the pick up. We called the contact number we were provided for the Cruise company. We reached their after hours recording telling us that the office is closed and to call back during business hours. We then contacted Vaitor. The Vaitor representative reached the same recording. We requested a full refund for the cruise and booked another cruise the following night with another Sunset Cruise provided.
A relaxing paddle boat dinner cruise with wonderful scenery of the Emerald bay and the southern area of Lake Tahoe.
The food is average at best. Asked for a ribeye to be medium rare but it came well done. The sauce saved it. I don’t expect a hight end wine but I don’t expect it to be lower end given it was dinner boat cruise. Band was fun. Do better on food and this cruise is five stars. I was a bit annoyed that the staff was more concerned about getting paid than providing a good experience.
The food was good, however the staff rushed everyone out of the dining area by 45 minutes into the cruise, that includes the following courses served & cleared in 45 minutes: salad, entree, dessert. I understand they need to clear & clean it all before we return to dock, but I'd like to finish the roll I'm eating without having my plate removed while I'm still eating.
First, I never leave reviews, but this one deserves a little heads up for future bookers. If you’re looking for a romantic dinner cruise, this is not it. Babies crying, noise level insane, packed in like a can of sardines, sing alongs with the band, gross bathrooms, and horrible drinks along with a well done steak that was delivered as “medium rare”. That will sum up my 17th wedding anniversary. Sorry for the bad review but if you’re looking for romance, I’d find something else. If you’re looking for a party, and subpar food, then book away.
This boat cruise was so much fun! The crew was fantastic, food was amazing, beautiful views and great music.
