Fannette is the only island to be found in all of Lake Tahoe. It is located in beautiful Emerald Bay on the west shore of the lake. A sparsely timbered, brush covered upthrust of granite that rises 150 feet above the water, Fannette Island was not always known by that name. During the past 100 years it has been known as Coquette, Fannette, Baranoff, Dead Man's, Hermit's, and Emerald Isle. Fannette was the name that finally stuck.

With its rugged shoreline and blue-green water, Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the world. Vikingsholm, a replica of a Scandinavian castle (800 A.D.), is part of the park. The building is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian

MS Dixie Ride

Bus pickup was on time. It seems like you can't say no to the picture taking at the entrance, but getting on the Dixie was easy going. Enough seats inside and out. The views were amazing and the narrative was a good history

Great cruise

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. To do much walking at all I have to use a walker. The bus driver was great to take my walker and put it up front and give me all the time I needed to get in when we got to the boat there was a wait but it went very well. Getting on the boat;everyone was helpful in getting up the ramp. I would certainly recommend taking this cruise.

A very nice way to see emerald bay. Boat goes slow so we were able to appreciate the scenery and take pictures. Good commentary but could have been a little louder.

Fun afternoon! Be sure to dress in layers - warm at first but wind is cool. Didn't have any of the food but was available and looked great. Plenty of seating outside or inside if preferred.

Travels across the lake...

Travels across the lake and then along a little of the coastline...disappointed that it spent so much time crossing the lake but, it was still beautiful. Glad we went. Pleasantly surprised that the food we ordered...fish and chips...was so good. Did not expect that quality of food or preparation.
