This was a great sample of Kyoto and a great way to get out of the city. Our multigenerational family of 10 enjoyed learning about the history of the places we visited, having some leisure in addition to the guided parts, and Tom, our guide, was incredibly patient, kind, and spoke terrific English! Highly recommend this tour, especially with Tom. Be advised the monkey park, which was so neat to see, is about a 15-20 minute walk up a steep hill. However, if monkeys aren’t your thing, the views alone are worthwhile.
We got lucky the bamboo forest was super empty, but we were through there and the temple park pretty fast. In the Zen Garden we spend a litte more time. Raphael was a super informative guide with great English. He also took really nice pictures of us and was overall fun to be around. We ended up being a small group of four people. The organisation and visit of the monkey park were really good. Our guide Raphael also gave us great recommendations for the rest of the day and where the food was good. Definitely recommended for it's price.
We had a great time in the bamboo forest and the monkey park. The tour guide (Matheus) was patient and friendly. My husband has a bad back and had to stop frequently. It was a very rainy day to boot. The monkey park was worth climbing for!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Bamboo Forest and found the climb to the Monkey Park worthwhile, even on such a rainy day 🌿🐒 We especially appreciate your kind words about Matheus. He will be very happy to hear that his friendliness and support helped make the experience enjoyable for both of you. We hope your husband’s back is feeling better, and we wish you many more wonderful adventures in Japan! Warmest regards ⛩️ Ayumi, JTA Team
Our family of 10 had a great visit with Tom. He spoke perfect English, was very knowledgeable about the area and Japan’s history, and was good to make sure everyone was engaged and could keep up. It was the right amount of time in each place with a nice break along the way. The hike to the monkeys was steep, but worthwhile for us. I highly recommend Tom and this tour for a taste of Kyoto history.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that your family enjoyed the tour and that Tom helped make the experience so memorable 😊 Tom will be very happy to hear your kind words about his knowledge and guidance. We’re glad the pace worked well for your group and that the climb to the Monkey Park was worthwhile! Thank you for recommending the tour, and we hope to welcome your family back to Japan again someday 🌿 Warmest regards ⛩️ Ayumi, JTA Team
Tom was very friendly and competent. In particular, the language skills were excellent. He provided a lot of information about the places and also answered additional questions in detail. He tailored the tour very individually to the group and allowed sufficient time when the group required it.
I did the option B tour (Arashimaya sights and ending with sake tasting at Tanzan sake brewery in Kameoka) today, and I had a great time with Tom! Initially I was a bit bummed out that it was raining incessantly today, but Tom’s positive attitude and enthusiasm more than made up for the rain! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this walking tour.
We took the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Temple, Gardens and Monkey Park tour today in Kyoto. We booked with Viator, which was really easy and our tour guide, Tom, was very informative! He was Super nice, approachable and interesting to talk to. He was flexible with the schedule and made room for us to take breaks, stop for snacks and souvenirs. I feel like the guide can make or break the experience and Tom made this the highlight of our time in Kyoto so far. I would highly recommend. Comfortable shoes are a MUST and the monkeys are a bit of an uphill walk but 100% worth it.
Dustin was excellent! Very knowledgeable, perfect pace, great personality. A highlight of our time in Japan.
Great day with Tom. Super Guide with a Lot of knowledge about the City and its history. Did thebtour in the Bamboo Forrest, Gardens around and Monkey Park. Weather was a bit rainy but that was rather a welcome refreshment after some hot days.
This was a great tour. it was well paced and really informative. Agustin, our guide, was great. He is very knowledgeable about each of the sites and also about Japanese culture. He explained everything in detail. We learned a lot. He also provided great recommendations on where to go and where to eat after the tour. This tour and Agustin are 100% recommended.
