Kuwohi is a sacred place for the Cherokee people and is the highest point within the traditional Cherokee homeland. Kuwohi is one of the most popular sites in Great Smoky Mountains National Park with more than 650,000 visitors per year. It is the tallest point in Tennessee and the third-highest summit east of the Mississippi River.

Itinerary
Drive through the lush forest of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on our way to Kuwohi Mountain. Roadside waterfalls flowing from the mountains, and a beautiful rocky river follow along the side of the road allow many opportunities to take pictures along the way. It is also possible to see Elk, deer, and wild turkeys.
At the Oconaluftee Visitor Center it is possible to see Elk grazing in the pasture. We will stop briefly to use the facilities and enjoy the gift shop.

Experience beautiful Cherokee North Carolina as we stop for lunch at one of the restaurants within the cultural district of the Cherokee Indian reservation. You may also want to pick up a few items at the local shops as well.
