The views from the gondola are Fantastic. The stops along the way are a ideal to stand below huge trees, smell and hear the rainforest. Kuranda is small and full of touristy stuff we are not buying- but lovers of unusual knick knacks will be in heaven at the multiple stalls & stores. Pub lunch was great with a cold beer. Then the river trip to see multiple species of turtles and fish, no crocs this time. Train ride back was fun in a solid wood carriage of at least 100 years. History of the construction of the bridges and railway lines are part of the commentary. Being within the hills and rain forest has a different perspective to the gondola. Highly recommend this tour
If it wasn’t so hot it would have been the perfect day! The views from the train ride were stunning, however there was no fans or aircon on the train so it was extremely hot. It would be ideal in the cooler months. Once at the top, barely any places had air conditioning to cool you down. The Skyrail down was a lot better as it seemed to have more airflow but still quite hot.
It was a long day. The gondola ride and train were great and we enjoyed the butterfly garden. It was hot and we had too much time in Kuranda.
Kuranda rail and Skyrail really good. For lunch you need to go to The Crepe place which is past the information centre. Fully licensed and the food was great. Bit of a line but that moved very quickly. It was a shame when we were there a lot of the markets were shut.
Hi. This is a review of the pick up and drop off on our tour today and is not a review of the Kurunda skyrail and train which was excellent. The pick up was confirmed 24 hours in advance at the Drift hotel Palm Cove and we were at a sign that said Drift Hotel Palm Cove 15 minutes before our pick ip at 8:50. At 9:01 I had a call asking where we were, I replied at the entrance to Drift hotel Palm Cove to be told it was the wrong entrance but it was the one we walked to from our accommodation. I also informed the tour company that I was on crutches in the confirmation. I did not know that the true meeting place was at reception which is another 100 metres from the entrance. Eventually we met up with the bus only to be told we were in the wrong place, we were told the Drift hotel not specifically the reception. The tour was brilliant and a good journey back to Palm Cove, them we expected to stop at the Drift reception but oh no we passed that then the bus stopped to drop us off. Ad I exited the coach I complimented the driver on extending our walk home which is more difficult on my crutches.
Dear jdub58i, Once more, please accept my sincere apologies following on our communication over direct e-mails explaining what happened on that specific day. Again, really sorry! Kind regards Nicolas Vernerey Operations Manager
Communication with tour provider was good and picks ups were punctual. You definitely don’t need a full day in Kuranda. Such a small town. The Koala Park is tiny! Don’t waste your money going there. You are better off doing Kuranda by yourself so you don’t feel trapped by needing to wait until your allocated train ride back. The train is very slow and very very hot! Barron Falls was amazing and the highlight of the tour.
Dear Tara_W, Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm glad to hear that communication with us was good and the pick-ups were punctual, and that Barron Falls was a highlight of your tour! As Kuranda is indeed only a village, this is why we offer different Skyrail & Kuranda Scenic Rail times so everyone can tailor their time in Kuranda to their needs. Kind Regards Nicolas Vernerey Operations Manager
It’s been a good tour with some nice viewpoints but nothing mind blowing or spectacular. The train is really nice, cable car has a great view. For a day trip it is okay. Kuranda City is over priced, super expensive food.
Dear Guide17038396396, I'm really sorry to hear that despite some enjoyable moments, you didn't feel completely wowed by the experience. It's good to hear that the train and Skyrail rides have offered nice views, and that they helped make the day worthwhile. However, it's a shame that Kuranda didn't meet your expectations, especially with the pricing for food. Thank you for sharing. Kind Regards Nicolas Vernerey Operations Manager
It was amazing. I don’t like heights but the Gondola up was so worth it and the staff were efficient and reassuring. I preferred the sky rail to the gondola but I would recommend you do both. The stops to get off and walk to view the waterfall were great as well.
Dear WineFoodTravels06, Great to hear you had an amazing time. It's great to know that the Skyrail ride was worth it as well as the stops to walk to the waterfall views. Thank you Kind Regards Nicolas Vernerey Operations Manager
Great train journey to Kuranda, really enjoyed Kuranda itself with the Butterfly & Bird activities, fully recommend. Great journey back with the Sky Rail.
The experience of the scenic railway and cable car was very good, thoroughly enjoyable and beautiful scenery. What we didn’t appreciate looking more into this day trip booking was our ‘tour guide’ turned up 25 minutes late to pick us up so we only just made the train (we pulled up to the station as the train did) so we had no time at Freshwater station to have a look and relax before getting on the train. The pick up on the way home was on time. Upon looking into this tour the cost of it is excessive for what is included. You can book yourselves the train and Skyrail at a cost of $125 each. This tour was $215 each, the only other thing that was included were the transfers - $90 each to be picked up late and then dropped off after is ridiculous. The cost of booking a day trip came with no added benefit for us to justify the cost. Much better to book this yourselves and book a taxi each way from Palm Cove - you’ll save yourselves money and have a better experience
Hello Richard. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't as expected. If you would like, you can email us on sales@downundertours.com with your booking confirmation number so we can look into the days operations for you.
