Itinerary
On the way down from the fort, on left is Jaswant Thada Outer View Thada, the graceful marble cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. His son Maharaja Sardar Singh built this monument known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar in the memory of Maharaj Jaswant Singh II of Jodhpur. The main memorial has been built like a temple with intricately carved marble stone. A visit to this structure is through the rocky hills giving it a secluded and a mystic aura.
Mehrangarh Fort Outer View Perched on a 150 m high hill its sprawl is the most formidable and magnificent fort in Rajasthan. Rao Jodha founded it in 1459 but subsequent rulers of Jodhpur have also added to it over the centuries. A meandering road leads to the from the city 5 kms below. Battle scars of canon ball hit by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the second gate. To the left is chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who fell on the spot while defending the fort against the armies of Amber. There are seven gates, which include Jayapol meaning victory built by Maharaja Man Singh to commemorate his victories over Jaipur and Bikaner armies. Victory Gate View Fatehpol also meaning victory gate was built by Maharaja Ajit Singh to mark the defeat of Mughals. The palm imprints still attract devotional attention and are covered by vermilion paste and paper-thin silver foil.
A prime attraction of the city, is the Clock Tower and the colourful Sardar Market near it. Narrow alleys lead to quaint bazaars selling textiles, antiques, silverware and handicrafts.
An ancient stepwell, modelled on the ‘Bawri’s’ of Gujarat, it holds water 300 feet deep, with steps descending to the well. Built in 1740 AD, by a queen of Marwar – Raani Tawarji, consort of Maharaja Abhay Singh of Jodhpur, the stepwell resembles those from the queen’s home Kingdom in Patan, Gujarat.

Thank you very much sir for your kind words and give your precious time to write a review for me
My self and my two teens had a nice time with Alok in Johdour. We met Alok at our hotel at the negotiated time, he was early and we left on time. He negotiates the tuk tuks (three wheelers) and you pay local rates (this is a huge bonus and something that we only learned after we spoke to Alok😊) and we visited all the sites in his itinerary, we didn’t go to Mandore because we did that before, but we took a leisurely walk through the old town, stopped for some chai. Then Alok was nice enough to show us a few shops to get some things my daughter wanted. All in all, he is polite, people really know him (so he is very local and you can feel safe), he is kind, respectful, very understanding and accomodating. As a guide, you can ask him lots of questions as he is very knowledgeable, he doesn’t overload you and keeps things moving along, so good when you have kids that likes to keep moving. We enjoyed our day out with Alok.
Very good experience with Alok who made us live an unforgettable visit to the alleyways of the blue city, its citadel, crematorium and the icing on the cake, walks within the market passing by "big ben"😉 Thank you Alok for a beautiful day. I would definitely recommend.

Great experience walking around the Mehrangarh Fort, Alok Singh Khichi was a delight to walk with giving us enough time to explore the fort on our own. The culture and warmth of rajasthan reflects in Alok's attitude and hospitality. Glad to have him guide us!
