Great experience with great tour guides. Roy was specially knowledgeable about the area and history of the islands. Very friendly staff and boat ride was super fun. We saw dolphins, water snakes, monkeys, javalina(chanchito), deer and turtles 🐢. The island is spread with different tours, our side had great music, drinks to buy, and a prepared lunch. We went snorkeling and had a blast.
It was a good experience Rolando was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Transport was on time and prepared for the trip.
The experience was great overall ! We got to see dolphins, the instructor Charlie was very knowledgeable and we had so much time on the island and the lunch provided was light healthy but delicious! The snorkeling to ME personally was underwhelming and crowded as I’ve been on many snorkeling excursions but still something to experience nonetheless. You will have to pay for your own drinks, chairs, and WiFi on the island as there’s NO service at all on the island. Chairs and WiFi are both 10$ each, also make sure you have cash incase their electronic systems don’t work because they were glitching at times! My only complaint was when we went to our first stop which was breakfast, they didn’t tell us how long we’d be waiting there and the driver sat and ate for an hour and I personally had to go up to him to ask when we were going to leave as we all thought it was a 10-15 minute breakfast stop. Overall this was a great experience I recommend for an early day trip because the island is BEAUTIFUL and we also met some cool people who were traveling too! The water is also very rough and rocky so just be aware of that too!! Great experience in Costa Rica for sure!
This particular excursion was okay, nothing to hype about. Transportation was very good, a/c work perfectly, driver was friendly, tour guide was A1. This island itself was BEAUTIFUL. My only complaint is that I didn’t like the facts I literally have to pay for everything; use of restrooms, WiFi, beach chairs! Bottle water should be complimentary
Turtle Island is a beautiful place, but I definitely do not recommend traveling with Inside Tours from Jaco; this is not a tour, it is a taxi boat. They include transportation from Jaco, but they left us stranded for over 2 hours at a restaurant on the way to Puntarenas, then another transport picks you up to take you to Puntarenas. A waste of time, they put you on a horrible boat that hits the waves, 30 minutes of snorkeling, and the worst part is the food; you have to pay for everything!! Not worth it. The island is beautiful, but look for another company.
Excellent from the moment Elmert passed to find us by Jaco, We were taken to see Crocodiles, dolphins, spider monkeys, we snorkeled that was wonderful, Daniel the guide a genius, helped my companions who did not dare to snorkel, then we ate delicious thanks to Emi. And Steve the captain very attentive. A magical day and an unforgettable experience. On behalf of three Argentines, thank you. A must-see trip.
We asked for our departure time multiple times for 4 days without reply. They only responded quickly after our refund time expired. We needed departure time to plan and now the company won’t refund us for 8 people. Terrible communication - we were told departure time at 6pm and were expected to be at pickup for 4am. Horrible customer service, don’t book without full details!
We read a bunch of these reviews the night before our trip and I’m glad I did. We decided to drive ourselves to the port. The wale up time of like 4:30/5 am was too much to bear, so we removed ourselves from the tour bus and breakfast and drove easily 1.25 hours to their port. The day was magical and the staff was great. Super attentive and positive. The island has many, many other similar type tours there so there are boats coming a many in the am and the same for the afternoon departure. We almost took costa cat tours but read that it was a booze cruise and no doubt we witnessed this. Soooooo much drinking on their behalf but our boat, though there was a bar nearby our dining, was low key and was not drinking copiously as others who had endless drink supply did. We liked the boat ride too, it was a little bumpy but not terrible. We did get to see some monkeys and stopped to check out dolphins. The food was very good too! Not huge portions but that was fine for us. Would highly recommend them.
IF YOU'RE STAYING IN JACO/HERRADURA READ THIS! This review is not about the island, it was beautiful. It's not about the crew (they were ok) or the food (it was meh, but fine)... it's about how MISLEADING this Tripadvisor activity posting is... and honestly, Tripadvisor needs to take this posting down. If you're staying in Jaco/Herradura do not book this activity from this company unless you want to spend over half your day in a van, bus, and in transport. You would THINK you're leaving from Jaco bay or the Marina in Herradura based on the title, but the boat actually leaves (this part is mentioned in the description) from Puntarenas marina which is 1.5 hours away... but this activity posting doesn't mention the exact pickup times or your transport times. Depending where you're staying you'll get picked up between 4:30AM and 5:45AM and you won't be on a boat until 9AM, that's around 4 hours traveling from your coastal location, inland, to merge with other groups bussed in from SJO or elsewhere and then you have to do it all in reverse and just pray there's no traffic delays. You will leave before the sun rises and return after it sets. We were picked up at 5:30AM as the sun was coming up and transported by van an hour inland where we waited at a highway stop restaurant/souvenir shop for 45 minutes for another larger group from San Jose to merge with us... and when that group got there (45 minutes after we did) they were all promised they could get breakfast which took another half hour... so we were literally sitting on a bench at a glorified truckstop for a little over 1.5 hours. From there it was another 45 minute bus ride to the Puntarenas marina. We had our own rental car, we could've just driven directly there and enjoyed our personal travel time and saved hours of our life but this posting is so misleading and obfuscated and lacking details that we couldn't plan that accordingly. From there (Puntarenas), it's another 45 minute boat ride on a mid boat... hard plaster seats, canopy held together by tape, smelled like gas depending how the wind was blowing... I mean... whatever... it's tropical destination and for sure there are worse boats you can take/charter but it's definitely not an enjoyable boat ride by any stretch. And again, once we were there, it was beautiful and fun... but where this posting ALSO lies is about "unlimited iced tea" and we got an email about "water being provided"... we had to show them this email for them to pull out the single jug of water they brought and they wouldn't let anyone have iced tea until lunch was served.... again, a single jug, not unlimited in any sort of way. If you're gonna book this trip drive yourself and bring your own cooler. Want a beach chair while you're there? That'll be $11 per chair. Gotta use the bathroom? $2. You're on the island for about 5 hours. You're on a bumpy speed boat for 1.5 hours. You're in a bus or van or waiting at a souvenir shop/restaurant for 5-6 hours or longer if there's traffic. We left at 5:30 am and didn't get back to our hotel until 7pm. JUST. DON'T. DO THIS. There are other companies that leave and return to the Herradura marina. There are other companies that don't charge extra for beach chairs (tbf this is a 3rd party service on the island, but some tours cover this or have their own chairs) and actually provide unlimited water and fruit (we were allowed 2 pieces of fruit only). This tour IS NOT "FROM JACO". Don't lose over half a day of your vacation like we did.
What a great experience! Went on this trip with my family in March. Despite what people are calling it on here as an “average” experience, it deserves 5 stars The whole crew was efficient with everything, from start to finish. You can tell that they are still building their business but for the price they offer, you get a great crew, a solid boat and captain, and a great experience on a beautiful island.
