Nothing wrong, just expensive for what you get

Everything was handled correctly, properly organized and I was saved a lot of trouble, but still, at the price I happened to pay, this was a lot for what was basically just transport. The driver couldn't speak enough English - I needed to summon up my 40-year-old Russian classes. That said, he was both polite and as helpful and informative as he could be given the communication barrier. I chose to go solo instead of a group because I thought the Palace of the Khans in Sheki would be most beautiful in the late afternoon. To be frank, it would be beautiful at any hour, so don't let that be the reason for a private driver. I did like being able to determine schedule and stops. There would have been stops I didn't care about in a group tour. If I went again to Azerbaijan, I would likely try and arrange a driver privately, since that was essentially what this was. But there were things the driver handled (including a police stop-bribe and helping me briefly at the border) that I could not have done myself. As I said, there was nothing done incorrectly. Still for the premium price, I would have expected a driver who could speak English sufficiently to deal with my requests - which was promised and frankly not quite delivered. I wound up speaking bad Russian.

Pleasant experience

Azerbaijan is a place to discover, full of colors and endless nature. This two-day tour was amazing, we saw caravanserais, waterfalls, cable cars and much more. Despite the heavy rain, Abulfaz advised us what to see safely and even took us to the village of the Udi. Recommended!

Could be a great trip, but several missteps made it unpleasant

The locations were great, as was the transportation. Could have been an incredible experience. Unfortunately, I paid for an English speaking driver and our driver, while very nice, could not communicate with us at all. We missed several stops on the tour and struggled through numerous miscommunications. For families, the safety standards were subpar. The seatbelts were not working and the driver, while clearly skilled, drove very aggressively and narrowly avoided several serious accidents. The places we visited were beautiful and I would absolutely go to them again, but unfortunately not with this tour company. I do have to credit them to the fact that they were very flexible and allowed us to delay our trip one day due to my child’s illness, so that was much appreciated. But it wasn’t enough to make me go back.

We were with friends in Azerbaijan in late October 2024. Looked at Gobustan, volcanoes, Yanardag, Atehgyash and much more. I want to acknowledge the professionalism of guide Pashayev Farid. He was very structured, competently led tours, told many interesting stories about the history of the republic. We were able to learn a lot from the history of Azerbaijan, understand how the republic developed. Thank you very much)))

Unforgettable Azerbaijan Experience with Outstanding Tour Service

We had an amazing experience with T E S TOURS in Azerbaijan. Everything was smooth and well-organized, making our trip unforgettable. The tours were fantastic, and their personal touch, like arranging a cake for my friend, was greatly appreciated. Highly recommended.

Azerbaijan tour facilitated by TES Tours now known as Old City Tours.

Hello all! This is a month old review and I couldn't post it due to the paucity of time. But the memories of Azerbaijan are so overwhelming that I couldn't resist but to write this review. I visited there with my family and the 5 night tour was facilitated by TES Tour now known as Old City Tours. In short, we did our night city tour the day of our arrival and the city lights up at night like it never sleeps. The next day, we left for absheron peninsula and we visited gobustan and mud volcanoes and finished-off our day with Azerbaijani cuisine. The next day was our tour to Gabala, Lahij and Shamakhi village. Namig was the tour guide and he is a thorough gentleman. The scenery enroute will take your breath away. Day 4 was Lenkaran and Astara. I did my research and was looking for any tour agency to take us there and here I came across with TES Tour. Farid, our tour guide, who became my closest friend in Azerbaijan and it was a trip worth remembering. I don't have words to narrate the beauty of Lenkaran, a district near Iran border and we got to see a lot of beautiful places there. Farid belongs to lenkaran itself, who also invited us to this Bibi's house (Aunt in Talish language) and she offered us mushmulla (a speciality fruit of Lenkaran) from her garden and said prayers for us when we were leaving. Farid taught me a few words in Russian and in return I taught him some Hindi words. On our way back to hotel, we spent our evening at Khanbulan Lake with people singing old Azeri songs on their traditional musical instruments, we had some Talish tea with walnuts and the day ended with Yanar Bulag, a natural spring water with flames coming out of its top. I must mention about Cevansir, at whose shop, we halted for a while when we entered Lenkaran and he offered us Lenkaran special tea with jaggery. Your day will not end without having tea because in Azerbaijan, you don't count the tea cups you're having (Chay nadir Say Nadir). The second last day was Guba and Khinalug, that borders with Dagestan, Russia and our tour guide was Mr. Aqil, another friend of mine in whom, did I find a similar interest in combat sports and he took us up the mountains and a local village house where we ate local home cooked food and had tea with white cherries. The people in Azerbaijan are welcoming and generous. The final day, we visited the old Baku city and were privileged to visit World heritage sites and we got to thank all the TES Tour group members at their office which is in Old City by the Double Gates. We came back with a heavy heart as we had to leave that beautiful country, but we brought the memories with us. If it makes you write a review even after a month visiting some place, trust me it must be worth it. Azerbaijan is worth it and so is TES Tours.

We had a very good experience with this professional outfit

We had a very good experience with this professional outfit. We pre-arranged a custom 3-day tour with Aysel, who was very responsive/helpful. We toured Shamakhi, Lahic, Gabala, Sheki, Kish, and a few minor sights along the way. Although this is offered as a two-day trip, we would not recommend such a compact itinerary given the driving distances. We arranged (on our own) to stay at resorts in both Gabala & Sheki (very much worth the extra time given the beauty of the mountains and how nice the resorts are in this part of Azerbaijan). Sheki itself deserves a full day as the most beautiful town in Azerbaijan. Our driver/guide was Samir, who speaks good English and is also fluent in Russian. Samir was a pleasure to travel with, a good driver (parts of the roads in this section of Azerbaijain are under major construction pending completion of a spectacular new cross-valley bridge), and an all-around good guy. We would definitely travel with TES again in the future.
