Our hurling experience in Freshford gives visitors the opportunity to experience this sport in a tradional Irish pub in the heart of the village. Here we give visitors a presentation information them of the history and rules of Hurling. We have had visitors from many different nationalities and backgrounds fall in love with Hurling and the culture it creates in Ireland. Visitors from Canada, USA and Australia even promising to join a GAA Club when they return home, it is never too late to try new things and why not the sport that is at the heart of Irish culture and community.

Visitors will gain a unique cultural Irish experience through the native sport of hurling. Established in the home of hurling, Kilkenny, guests will be given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in Irish culture by attempting Irelands most ancient and cultural past time. The activity begins with an introduction to the sport inside the intense environment of a teams dressing room. You will discover the origins of the unique sport, hurling and how even in 2024 it remains the fastest field sport in the world. Many moments can occur in the dressing room on match days, things such a aggressive team talks, sweat and tears among some of the more memorable images. You can almost sense the agony and ecstacy from the dressing room upon arrival. Once you are up to date with the basics of the game, you will be brought out to 'the field of dreams' . Here, you will be thought the basic skills of ground strike, hand pass, solo run, and hand strike and even take a shot at the goalposts.

We had an exciting time learning all about hurling and getting to practice the basics. We are a family of 15 and even our little ones were able to participate. A great activity.
This hurling experience was awesome! Our family of four, including two young adult daughters, loved the entire experience! We knew nothing about hurling before this experience, but now we are wanting to follow the games next season! We enjoyed learning the history of the game, the drills James taught, and the fun competition played between family members! We laughed a lot! So so fun!! Highly recommend!!
We had a great intro to hurling with Michael. He was knowledgeable and personable and a great coach. He kept it interesting for the full 90 min and we learned a lot about the sport.

Excellent overview of how hurling/camogie is played, including some history. Also had a chance to practice some basic play of the game. Great way to understand the passion the Irish have for the game. Players don’t even get paid!
Our family had an absolutely amazing time! We learned a ton about this sport and then got to actually learn the skills. The instructors were very patient and kept us all safe. I did this with my wife and 3 sons (age 9-12) and it was a highlight of our trip. This is a must do activity. Our family plans to start following the sport.

My family had such an amazing time learning all about the sport of hurling! I loved the educational portion at the beginning that discussed the history of the sport and the rules. The hands-on portion was so much fun! James and Charlie were extremely patient and engaging! They even got my reluctant teenager to join in and have some fun! So glad we did this! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes sports or any with kids looking for a fun activity in this area!
This was a fantastic event. All thr presenters were helpful and friendly. If you're a sports enthusiast of any kind you won't be disappointed! Got to try our hands with the sticks and learned a lot about this sport. Perfect venue as well.
My group and I from NY had a fantastic morning learning about the game. Michael and his son Charlie were so personable and passionate about the game. They did a great job teaching us how to play and filled the whole experience information about the game in such a prideful manner. We loved it so much my girlfriend and I purchased our own hurleys!
