Horse riding in Kyrgyzstan, Truly Nomadic Land

Five days on horseback through Kyrgyzstan’s mountains gave us some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable — alpine valleys, glacier rivers, endless ridgelines, and star-filled nights camping under open sky. It was a truly unforgettable experience. What made it even better was our guide, Jashtyk. Professional, knowledgeable, and endlessly helpful, he made sure every one of us had the best possible time, no matter our riding level. Combined with a great group of fellow travelers, this trip became one of those life experiences you never forget. Highly recommend — especially if you get Jashtyk as your guide!

We recently completed a 3-day horse trek in the Alay Mountains with Visit Alay and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The booking process was smooth and hassle-free thanks to Eleonora, who patiently answered all our questions and helped us arrange not only the horse trek but also a customised private tour around Kyrgyzstan afterwards. Her responsiveness and attention to detail made planning the trip much easier. The horse trek itself was fantastic. The scenery in the Alay Mountains was absolutely breathtaking, with stunning landscapes throughout the journey. We stayed at different yurt camps each night, and it was a lovely way to experience nomadic life in the countryside. It was a memorable way to experience this beautiful part of Kyrgyzstan. A special thank you to our guide, Tashi, who took great care of everyone in the group and made sure we were comfortable and well looked after throughout the trek. Our horsemen, Shiker and Manas, were incredibly experienced, professional, and always attentive to safety, which was especially reassuring for those with less riding experience. We also appreciated the friendliness and professionalism of the staff (Timur) at the Visit Alay Osh office, who was polite and welcoming towards us. Overall, this was a very enjoyable and well-organised experience. I would highly recommend Visit Alay to anyone considering a horse trekking adventure in Kyrgyzstan.

We took the three day horse riding trip through the Alay Mountains leaving from Osh. This was truly an incredible experience, perhaps the best decision we made while in Kyrgyzstan! We really enjoyed our guide (Kubat) and horsemen, who gave clear instructions and took great care of us on our trek. The horses were good natured and responsive (loved pats and being fed the apples we bought for them!) this makes it easy for inexperienced riders however the trek also takes you through some steep and challenging terrain, which helps to build your riding confidence and makes it more of an adventure (plus gets you into some remote spots). We loved staying in very beautiful locations, the mountain picnics, with kind and generous host families. A 10/10 experience we will never forget!

Amazing time - beautiful scenery & great hosting

A heartening and unforgettable 5D4N horse-riding adventure through Osh and the Alay Mountains with two of my friends in late August! Beyond the breathtaking scenery and perfect timing of our visit, it was our guide, Baiysh, our horseman, Manas, and the incredible people we met along the way who truly made this journey so special. Baiysh was exceptionally knowledgeable and accommodating. He understood our group dynamic perfectly and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met throughout the trip. His deep insights and stories added so much richness to our experience, helping us see Kyrgyzstan through a more meaningful lens. We were so fortunate to have him as our guide. Manas, our horseman, was equally wonderful. Patient, humourous, and always attentive. He took such great care of us and his horses over all five days, making the ride both safe and enjoyable. Even when there were last-minute changes to our plans, Baiysh always discussed them openly with us, ensuring we were comfortable and happy. His flexibility and thoughtfulness maximized our experience in every way. Everywhere we went, we were met with genuine warmth, incredible hospitality, and kindness from our hosts, something that will stay with us long after the trip ended. This adventure is perfect for anyone seeking something new and open to learning about this unique way of life. I would highly recommend Baiysh to anyone looking for an authentic and meaningful experience in Kyrgyzstan. Do note that some level of fitness is required for the horse-riding trek!
