Hike with Llamas and Alpacas in the Sacred Valley from Cusco

Description
We live in a place that still preserves the ancestral customs of the Incas, surrounded by Inca and colonial archaeological remains. Together we will visit, with our llamas and alpacas, incredible places along ancestral roads, lakes, mountains and vestiges of our history that will take us back in time, while sharing our culture.

Itinerary
We will meet at the entrance of the Cathedral of the Plaza de Armas of Cusco at 8:00 a.m. to start the journey towards Chinchero.
This spectacular hike with llamas and alpacas begins in Chinchero, a town located 40 km from the city of Cusco. The road trip takes about 1 hour, where our team will wait for us with llamas and alpacas. Our walk will be from 4 to 5 hours and is a unique experience in which visitors can get to know Peruvian culture and its past. Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Sacred Valley, farm houses, agricultural production terraces, mountains, glaciers and a beautiful lagoon of crystal clear water, among many other views. We will reach an indigenous community where we will begin walking; along the way we will see shepherds with sheep and other animals. The purpose of this llama walk is to show what llama travel was like many years ago.
Also, during the journey of our hike, we will have a delicious picnic with organic ingredients from the area. After the picnic, we will continue with our walk, which will take us to the archaeological park of Chinchero and the colonial temple.

Amazing experience! My wife and I went on this hike together, and it was our favorite part of our entire trip to Peru!
Just incredible. The Llamas and Alpacas were so adorable. The trail breathtaking. Lunch phenomenal with locally sourced and home made food.
This was the BEST—dare I even say better than Machu Picchu?!—experience I had during my 3 week stay in Cusco! I will forever hold close and dear the half day spent hiking with llamas, alpacas, herding dogs (and pup on his first hike!) and of course, the beautiful new friends from Germany and the couple who led the hike. It was one of the most magical experiences of my life—and I have been lucky to travel the world and explore magical places. You MUST do this when you stay in Cusco! You will be forever thankful. It’s also an excellent and gorgeous way to acclimate to the altitude—hiking in the Andes highlands.
The hike with alpacas hosted by Reynaldo and family unfolded like a dream. My family of four, including kids ages 8 and 10, made core memories with our new wooly friends Inti (x2), Ponchito, Oreo, and so many more - plus puppies! Lunch was absolutely delicious and homemade, and the view at lunch time was breathtaking. We are grateful to our wonderful hosts for so generously giving of themselves to offer us this rare and exceptional day. We will remember it always.
A truly fabulous experience. I loved the trek through the Chinchero mountains. The views were spectacular and walking with the alpacas and llamas was so special. The lunch was also really good. Well worth it and so nice being out with these crazy animals. Just a note that there is alot of walking and alot of hills so make sure you've acclimatised first. Highly recommend
Very unique and authentic experience. Reynaldo was a kind and informative guide. We all enjoyed watching the llamas and alpacas show their personalities!
This was such a great and beautiful experience, our tour guide picked us up at plaza de Armas we had about a hour drive to the beginning of our hike. We were greeted by his wife and the llamas and alpacas. They let us know they brought water and told us to let them know if we needed a slower pace since it was somewhat of an uphill hike. The tour guide took many pictures of us and we even got to bottle feed the baby alpaca. The llamas and alpacas were so sweet and walked at our pace. At one point in the hike I didn’t feel too well due to the altitude, so make sure you’re acclimated before doing this hike. However the tour guide had some oils to help me feel better and at our lunch stop they made us tea and provided oxygen for my head ache. They were amazing, the food, the views, the animals were perfection. Thank you so much
The absolute best tour in Cusco!! We loved every minute of it. Our guides were wonderful, but the llamas and alpacas were the stars! We will never forget this hike.

The views were beautiful, the guide was very good, and loved the food! The best part was my alpaca, Chocolate, who was wary of me at first, but my friend by the end of the morning!
