Itinerary
Melbourne's famous (and some say ugliest) town square, built in 2002. This is where we begin our journey with a background to the role alcohol played in Melbourne's foundation.
Our first laneway for the tour, here we talk about the history of Melbourne's Laneways and start to peel back some of the city's best eateries.
One of Melbourne's most famous laneways, get ready for an explosion of street art.
More street art to see, plus the history of Melbourne's street art scene - plus a run down of some fantastic eating and drinking locations.
Home to one of Australia's oldest men's social clubs, and the consulate of one of the world's smallest countries, here we talk about Melbourne' booziest police commissioner and the strange persecution of barmaids.
The spiritual home of Melbourne's laneway bar culture. Let's talk about the rise of Melbourne's bar scene starting with an important rule change in the 1980s. Also home to some of the City's best hidden bars.
Victoria was founded on gold rush, and our emergence as a state is closely linked to those early findings.
The world's second oldest China Town and home to some of the City's best bars.
The City's old red light district certainly hides more than its fair share of secrets, and amazing bars!

A wonderful evening (even in the rain). 3 fantastic bars that I would never of found. A great group of people. Our guide Jay was brilliant. Great knowledge, well delivered with heaps of weird and wonderful funny stories, he really made the tour the best.
Great afternoon, Jay was a fantastic host
Tom was great very personable, learnt a lot about the city I’ve grown up in!! Highly recommended
Laneway Legends tour is a must if you’re visiting Melbourne! It was the perfect experience with our tour guide Maria, who was enthusiastic, informative and very lovely on a winter afternoon. A great way to end the tour at the Little Lon Distilling Co. with a tall glass of mulled gin.
Thank you so much Maria for the most incredible tour! I’m a Melbourne local who went on this tour to explore my own city and have a fun night out, which is exactly what I got. Maria is a natural story teller who had us all captivated and entertained for the entire tour! I learnt so many great facts about the history of Melbourne that I had never heard, despite living here for years. All the bars were fantastic, delicious drinks and great conversation. Maria was awesome to chat to and the whole group were so much fun! Was so great to meet Marco, Brenton, Lydia, Jodie, Tom and others (who I’ve unfortunately forgotten the names of!). I recommend this tour and Maria both so highly, to both tourists and Melbourne locals alike.
Excellent all round. Lovely to all and knowledge of the city
We really enjoyed this experience. Jay was a great guide, very engaging and made the journey interesting and entertaining. Would defininitely recommend this tour to others.
I had an amazing time with Maria on my tour! The bars were unique, cozy, and well selected and I learned a lot about Melbourne's history. Sometimes the tour doesn't stop there either, being a solo traveller and having no plans for the rest of the night, Maria invited me to dinner with herself and a friend, and I got a few more bar recommendations along the way. All in all, the tour was exactly what I was hoping it would be and was absolutely worth doing, especially if you have Maria as a guide!
Maria our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of bars and hotels. She was also friendly and extremely helpful. It was interesting tour that took us to places we did t know despite having travelled to Melbourne on many other occasions. Our group stayed and talked well beyond the set tour time and left feeling like friends.
Great tour, Maria was a great guide!
