We spent a wonderful evening with Ashok walking through his village. We learnt his own family craft, interlock weaving, as well as meeting the local pottery family. We saw some of the very old homes and he explained the meanings behind the entrances and the words. We tried some local massala chai tea and some of the sweets. Ashok answered all of our questions in great detail, and spent time explaining the community traditions. We then returned to Ashok’s family home to share an evening meal. A wonderful experience. The next day Ashok took us on the safari in the Jeep. We saw lots of animals in the wild and our favourite was the bluebuck. We went to a local farming family to learn the traditions and he explained some of the history of opium to us as well. Another fabulous experience that we will never forget. Thank you!! ✨ An unforgettable village safari experience! Om Prakash Prajapat was an amazing guide — warm, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about his village. He drove us around in his jeep to spot chinkaras and the elusive blackbuck, and his family welcomed us with such genuine hospitality. We only wish the experience had lasted longer!
Our stay at Chhotaram Prajapat’s Homestay was truly unforgettable. To be welcomed into the heart of the Bishnoi community and to live alongside them, even for a short while, was such a gift. From the very first moment, we were embraced with warmth and treated not as guests, but as part of the family. They opened their world to us with so much generosity — showing us their beautiful textiles and sharing the stories and traditions that carry the spirit of their way of life. We were taken on walks through the village, learning about their connection to the land, their values, and the depth of their culture. The safari was beautiful and we managed to see many animals that are also part of their culture. Be prepared for a desert massage! The food was absolutely delicious, prepared with the freshest ingredients and served with such love. The traditional huts were immaculate and comfortable, offering an authentic and peaceful stay. It was an experience full of heart, beauty, and connection — one that we will treasure always. We are already dreaming of returning next year to deepen our bond with this extraordinary family and community.
We were 10 members of the same family and spent half day with Chotaram for a safari tour. We had two jeeps and had the chance to see many gazelles and a few antilopes. We visited villages and had a stop for the traditional opium ceremony, pottery session, carpet discovery. We had a lunch at his home. Chotaram was very friendly and gave us many info on his Bishnoi traditions. I strongly recommend.
The village Safari was fantastic. Chhota Ram Prajapat looked after us very well and took us around the village. We spotted Black bucks, Neel gaay and camels. We also were taken to the local pottery making family where we tried our hand in traditional pottery making. Chotaram took us to his home and we were served a very lovely traditional vegetarian lunch at his home. All in all, a wonderful experience!
Tour of the steppe with many animals (camels, gazelles, Antilles, birds). Stop in original villages with visit to the potter and weaver. Freshly cooked local lunch. Our nice guide Ashok explained everything very well to us, so you got a good insight into village life.
Our guide, chottoretara Pryapat, made the tour with his patient and calm manner. We were fortunate to spot severally types of gazelle and wild peacocks close to us. The villages were very neat and gave us insight into the daily lives of the villagers. We were warmly welcomed for lunch at his house.
The day with Chhotaram and his family was excellent. We saw various birds and the Blackbuck antelope before stopping off at the local clay pottery. Where we tried our hand at making a traditional clay pot. Then tried the interlock weaving at his family home with a local tasty home cooked vegetable curry. Chhotaram is informative in explaining local Rajasthan customs. Throughly enjoyable day, well worth it.

I went on the village safari with Ashok together with my two sisters, it was a really nice experience! Ashok is so kind and can tell you all about the local traditions and culture. We had an amazing time visiting different families and spotting wild animals in the nature around the village. Would really recommend!
Ashok took us on a village safari whish was very nice. We went to see a family that made pottery of clay all by hand. It was really cool to see them do it and they sold some nice craft for a small price. Then we went to a family that showed us how they prepare opium and some other typical food of the region. All the while Ashok told us a lot about the cast system here and other stories of the region. We then went on a safari, ate desert berries from the trees, saw lots of wildlife and went to a natural water well. It was a lovely tour that then ended at a fabric recycling factory where they had the most beautiful scarfs table rugs, bed sheets etc.
