This part of coastline use to be deep under water. The stone formed about 200 million years ago from ocean debris, such as plant and fish matter that floated to the bottom of the really deep ocean. Also keep a look out for the tiny and adorable Fairy Penguins as there are thousands of them around the area too!
The Twelve Apostles are perhaps the most famous attraction along the Great Ocean Road. These towering limestone stacks rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean, creating a breathtaking landscape. The best time to visit is either early morning or late afternoon for optimal lighting and fewer crowds.
This stunning natural formation is named after the shipwreck of the Loch Ard in 1878. The gorge is famous for its dramatic cliffs, clear waters, and beautiful sandy beach. You can also visit the nearby shipwreck memorial.
The Port Campbell National Park is a national park in the south-western district of Victoria, Australia. The 1,750-hectare national park is situated approximately 190 kilometres south-west of Melbourne and approximately 10 kilometres east of Warrnambool
It`s more than a rainforest walk. Will see towering mountain ash eucalyptus trees some awesome fern trees & ancient trees such as the myrtle beech
This lush rainforested park offers excellent hiking trails, waterfalls, and the opportunity to see native wildlife like koalas. Don’t miss Hopetoun Falls and Triplet Falls, both of which are easily accessible via short walks.
The Great Ocean Road itself is the world’s largest war memorial, as it was built entirely by soldiers who returned from World War I. Many of the soldiers who built the road had little to no experience with road construction, yet they persevered and created one of the most scenic drives in the world. The Memorial Arch is a small but powerful reminder of their contribution.
A picturesque seaside town that makes for a great stop to relax, grab a meal, and enjoy the beach. It’s also a great base for exploring the Great Otway National Park and nearby attractions.
Will see iconic Australian animals such as koalas and kangaroos.
The Chocolaterie is known for its high-quality handmade chocolates, ranging from truffles and pralines to chocolate bars, sculptures, and novelty items. They also make artisanal ice cream, which is a real treat, especially on a hot day. Their ice cream comes in a variety of flavors, and it's a perfect indulgence after a day of exploring the coast.

We had a fantastic time on this private tour. Being able to set our own pace and avoid the large tourist bus crowds made all the difference. The vehicle was incredibly comfortable, and our guide was wonderful—very knowledgeable about the local area and happy to answer all our questions. It felt like a truly VIP experience from start to finish. Highly recommend if you want a stress-free, high-quality day trip.
We did a private Great Ocean Road tour with 5 of us and honestly, it was one of the best days out. Paid $1,500 total, which was about $300 each, and got a full 10-hour run covering 550 km. What made it different from the regular coach tours was that our guide actually knew where to go to avoid the crowds. Yeah, the Twelve Apostles and those main spots were packed, but he took us to these hidden viewpoints that hardly anyone knew about. That's where the real magic was. No rushing around either. We had proper time at each spot to just soak it in and take photos without feeling pressured. The guide was really friendly and knew his stuff. Whole thing felt relaxed and scenic—exactly what a road trip should be. If you're thinking about doing the Great Ocean Road, definitely go private if you can. Way better than being stuck on a bus with 40 other people. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
12 Apostles are a must see!! Our guide Ravi took us to many out of the way places. Saw koalas and kangaroos. And an ice cream cone to end the day!!
I did the Great Ocean Road & 12 Apostles private tour in December and it was absolutely flawless from hotel pickup to the end. This is hands down the best private tour I’ve ever experienced—and I travel a lot with very high standards. Our driver was exceptional: friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He never rushed us, made sure we saw everything, and even went out of his way to help us spot kangaroos. We felt like we spent the day with a respectful friend showing us his city, not a tour guide. The Great Ocean Road and 12 Apostles were breathtaking. I can’t recommend this company enough—if you’re booking this tour, book with them.
This was not a luxury tour. We were picked up by a dirty old Toyota Rav4, very far from luxury mentioned in the description. Also, I driver had limited English and almost didn't say a word so there was no guide or any explanation of what we visited. On top, he drove aggressively passing the speed limit many times, doing 160kmh on a 100kmh limit and 130kmh hour on a 80kmh limit. We overtook traffic on a curve and on double solid lines. Upon request he stopped this behaviour. The only thing that happened according the description is that we went to the places mentioned. No luxury, dirty old car, no guide or information, not what we paid for.
I would give the tour 6 stars if I could. Ray was the best tour guide we had in Australia so far. Knowledgeable, professional, and caring. We had a great day exploring.
The trip was a one day trip to the Great ocean road. The guide named Ray and he took us to several locations within the area. The good thing for us is that we could see and spot kangaroos, cockatoos and other local animals in close interaction. This was amazing for us. Ray definitely delivered his service well.
Fabulous experience! Our driver was incredible. Highly recommend doing the private tour. Very personal and a great experience!
IT WAS AN AMAZING TOUR! AND THE TOUR GUIDE MICHAEL IS ACCOMODATING, FUNNY, INFORMATIVE AND SO FRIENDLY. EXCELLENT SERVICE! THANK HEAPS!
I highly recommend AR tours for the Great Ocean Road trip, especially if you're a first-time visitor. The convenience, the expert guidance, and the well-structured itinerary turn a scenic drive into a truly enriching adventure.
