You will start your excursion by checking into our log cabin office at the Talkeetna State Airport 45 minutes prior to your flight departure. Be sure to bring your sunglasses, light jacket (in the summer) and plenty of memory on your camera. Board our ski-equipped aircraft and enjoy your pilots' commentary about the geological history and local wildlife on your individual headset. Continue your flight above Talkeetna and over the river systems of the Susitna valley as you enter into an incredible landscape of icefalls, glaciers and snow peaks. You'll be awed by the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier, filled with a 4,000 foot thick river of ice, making this one of the deepest gorges in the world. Travel further into the range to explore the seven major glaciers that blanket the southside of the Alaska Range. Add a glacier landing onto your trip for a highlight of your Alaska vacation. Great experience! Lucked out and had great weather on the Ruth glacier for a landing. Guide was excellent and gave commentary on what we were seeing. Do it! You will not regret it.
Had a great flight with Talkeetna Air which included landing on a Glacier. The pilot was very knowledgeable and the company runs a first rate operation that is very organized. I felt completely safe flying around the mountains. The pilot showed us the side the climbers go up and the side they used to go up as well as educating us on glaciers. The landing on the glacier was definitely special. I was thinking there would be other planes there as well but we were the only ones on the glacier and noone had been there for weeks - untouched snow. Very cool!
Flew with TAT on the most gorgeous sunny day, not a cloud in the sky - we were spoiled with the weather but also had a great pilot and safe, fun flight. Glacier landing is a must!

They consolidated our Mountain Voyager (with glacier landing) with a Grand Tour, so we got to see Denali's north face, too. If your budget can handle it, it’s really a great way to experience Denali and surrounding peaks. The views are spectacular, particularly if you're lucky enough to sit in the copilot’s seat. We booked the 0830 flight (well in advance), and the weather was perfect—nice and smooth. Our skilled and knowledgeable (Kiwi) pilot, Liam, began his trek among the peaks at 6k ft and gradually ended up briefly at 12k (so no need for oxygen) before heading down for the glacier landing, which was almost like plopping down on a gentle uphill slope—very little roll/ski-out, followed by a sweeping 180 to end up pointed down hill for the takeoff — great photo op. So, at these altitudes you’re looking at the often sheer faces of the higher peaks beside you, and the glaciers and lower peaks under you. Liam gave us a lot of info re the terrain and history of the area during the tour. We highly recommend.

Talkeetna Air Taxi provided an outstanding flight tour around Mt. McKinley (Denali) with pilot commentary that informed and educated all passengers on history, recreation, geographical information and area recommendations for dining and stays. The experience was safe, comfortable, and all resources provided ensured a pleasurable experience. I highly recommend the Grand Denali tour to get up close to the continents tallest mountain!
A spectacular adventure we’ll never forget! Expert pilot, felt safe at all times. Incredible view of Denali National Park peaks and glaciers on a sunny day in mid-June; Denali, herself, was peeking over the puffy white clouds. I didn’t want it to end! Had the great fortune of dropping off some Denali climbers at Base Camp on the Kahiltna Glacier, and could see tiny specs of trails with climbers on them. I get motion sickness, so I was well-medicated for the flight. The worst motion was over the valley from take off until you reached the mountains, then it was smooth sailing for us the rest of the flight. Highly recommend this experience!
