With its imposing Arch towering in the center of the wide space, Piazza della Vittoria–named so to celebrate the end of World War I–is one of the hubs of the city center.
This building is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of the power and devotion of the noble Genoese families of the Renaissance. Religious architecture here reflected both the faith and the social status of its patrons.
There are some “historical dates” that are fixed in my mind since I was in school. Perhaps THE most memorable date is that of October 12, 1492 when Christopher Columbus, the Genoese explorer who first sailed from Europe to the Americas ! We are going to walk close to his place! Ticket cost: 3€
The imposing Porta Soprana! Between 1155 and 1158 the Genoese participated en masse in the construction of the walls to defend themselves from attacks by Frederick Barbarossa’s army.
We have arrived at the nerve center of Genoa, the hub of city life. De Ferrari Square is the city’s main square, a meeting point and venue for major city events.
It is impossible not to be captivated by the majesty of its black-and-white striped facade, the bell tower towering over the historic center, and the intricate details that make the building a true architectural masterpiece. This is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Genoa’s main church.
Piazza San Matteo is a well-preserved example of an early medieval aristocratic settlement. With its 14th-century church of the same name and surrounded by palaces with characteristic black and white bands, it represented the power center of the Doria family, a tangible sign of their influence in medieval Genoa.
Its construction took about 40 years and began thanks to what can be called Europe’s first urban allotment plan, starring one of the richest families in the city, the Grimaldis, who bought the entire area and transformed it into one of the most beautiful and sumptuous areas in Europe.
Genoa is characterized by narrow streets, and getting a view of the city from above is never easy. That is why this Belvedere will leave you speechless!
Located abutting the inner coves of the Porto Vecchio, the church of San Siro has played a key role in Genoa’s religious life for as many as 17 centuries.
The facade is certainly impressive but in my opinion it is the interior that is jaw-dropping: a must-see when you come to Genova!
Just think: it has been about 2500 years that this port has been used by sailors! How many people, how many stories have passed through here! We have the amazing Aquarium, the Biosphere, An elevator that will take you up to 40 meters high and so much more to discover!

I wanted to see the main sites of Genova but my trip was last minute and I didn't have anything planned - the content in this guide - including the tour itself and other info and tips - was a perfect grounding for me to navigate the city on my own but be sure I got the most out of understanding what I was seeing and ideas around where to eat, what to do, etc. Awesome, cost effective idea, will definitely use in other cities. You'll have access to the tour the day and after the date you book it - I recommend access it the day before you plan to explore the city, review it against your map to get your head around how you'll navigate (for example, because I left from my hotel I was not following the route in order - it was helpful to go through the content in advance on the hotel wi-fi to get my plan together and have a basic background on everything in mind in advance).
Great fun tool to self walk around Genoa Easy to download and it covers all the main sites! Thank you :)
This is a self guided walking tour. Once I figured out how to switch from the audio to the walking directions and photos it was smooth sailing. It takes a lot of battery power- make sure you have your phone charged up or have a charger with you. Informative and a nice way to walk through Florence on our own.
I could not complete it because the audio cannot be played. Even though my internet connection was working perfectly. I do not recommend it!!

Fun tour. Great city to visit.
excellent self guided tour and recording for each location awesome
Really easy to follow guide that we could do at our own pace, and detour as we wanted to. Informative without being an overload, and took us to all the key spots we could think of.
Great way to explore Genoa at your own pace and without going into everything too much . Just right!
Good idea for a tour and lovely to go at your own pace. We found the navigation was slightly centred on a car route rather than walking taking you from one site to another site with nothing in between and we passed some lovely spots. Once you arrived at the allocated spot the description and details were very good. Not sure I would recommend this tour bit It was a good for the price.
Exelent way to get information about major attractions in Genova, everything in your own pace
