In a small rural village, in the heart of Beira Alta, we want to provide you with an adventure on a fantastic trail built with colorful wooden walkways, the fruit of the hard work of people in the region. A route and a place that awaits you and your visit! Along this circular path we will walk on wooden walkways, forest areas and agricultural areas. The walkways over the rocks and over the river make this place unique and full of magic. A route where the small waterfalls of Rio Cavalos and riparian gallery will accompany you throughout this adventure. On this walk, you will also have the opportunity to discover and observe the forgotten heritage of this rural corner, which is well marked by having several water mills and watermills along the route of the River Horses. Then we will visit two very special viewpoints, where you will find a Penedo that defies the laws of Physics and another where you can sway in the wind.

We will go through the most unique trail in Portugal, the Trilho dos Gaios. Along the River Horses we will observe the fauna and flora with all its beauty through colorful trails.
Viewpoint that has a fantastic view over the Mondego River. Here you will shake the Penedo and challenge the laws of Physics.
A place with a breathtaking landscape where you can swing while watching all the details that your view reaches.

If you appreciate nature and natural beauty, this is the tour for you. Sergio was a wonderful guide who is happy to answer any and all questions you may have. He is knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommend this tour, which consists of a drive to Vale do Gaios from Coimbra and a ~5km gentle hike. We even did it in the rain and it was fine - the trees provide a decent amount of cover.

I loved this tour. The route is very, very beautiful, following the Cavalos River, with a green forest around us and even a small waterfall. The trail is different from all the others I have seen, due to its walkways in different colors that make the intense green vegetation vibrate even more. We ended the day at Penedo C'Abana, which has a magnificent view, and for our enjoyment we even managed to shake the rock a little. Five stars.

We started the tour in a small village and soon began to see the colorful walkways along the river, almost reminiscent of the wizard of oz. Along the way Sérgio showed us all the details and told us the story of how this unique place came to be. To end the tour, we even had the opportunity to put the laws of physics into practice by shaking a ton boulder with our own hands. I definitely recommend this tour!
