Perfect day!

Despite a misunderstanding, John made it possible for us to still have the experience and it was great! We saw a surprising number of animals, learned a lot and felt well looked after all around. The rangers were just as friendly and tried to make us as comfortable as possible in the heat. There is absolutely no criticism!

A journey that's not worth their money.

02/2025 we made a trip to the Shimba Hills with a German (unfortunately very difficult to understand and about 15 words vocabulary ) speaking guide. The highlight of this safari is the waterfall. There is no guarantee for the animals. Although we got antelopes , buffaloes and warthogs in front of the lens. But that's all. The landscape itself is very beautiful in the park. Unfortunately there was no drinking water all day at 33 degrees. You could buy it overpriced at the waterfall or later , at lunch at the lodge , to go with it . Water costs about 30 shillings in the supermarket. The hike to the waterfall goes, accompanied by an armed ranger over 2.5 km with an altitude difference of about 170m. and through a stream where you are guaranteed to get wet feet ;-) . Afterwards we will have lunch . Our guide did not know the way. Fortunately, he was better at swahili than German . And asked himself through. The food is good and the view phenomenal . In the lodge and the waterfall you can refresh yourself. So don't forget swimwear . The whole thing is definitely not worth 360 € (2 people ).

Do not!

Bad lazy guide, knew little about nature and animals. Makes little contact. The reserve is not worth it if you have made several safaris.

Operator response

As informed before, you knew that there are not the range of animals than in other parks. You wanted to see the antelope and the guide explained you that he can’t force the animal to come out. This is how a safari works. It’s not a zoo.

No animals but a nice waterfall

If you do want to see animals from the park, do not take this tour. The guide was great and he was clear from the beginning, this is not a tour to see any animals (and he was absolutely right) despite what the add is pretending. However if you’re interested to see natures landscapes and the water fall then it’s a great tour and the guide for the waterfall walk was reall knowledgeable and helpful

Operator response

Thanks for your feedback! Please guys, if you want to have a 100% gurantee to see animals, it is better to visit a zoo. Also in this park animals can be spotted but it is depending on luck. We are trying our very best to spot them but we can't force them. They are no toys. It is wrong to say that there are no animals. Inform yourself please. In addition, the add is not marked as a safari!

Beautiful day

We didn't expect to see any animals, as it's actually rainy season. Nevertheless, our Guid Sahid managed to find buffalo, warthogs, springboks, baboons, a turtle and elephants. Thank you, thank you. The weather was perfect too. The hike to the waterfall was easy. The waterfall very nice and refreshing. I can only recommend the trip!
