Itinerary
The tour begins in Câmara de Lobos, a traditional fishing village that became known internationally through a painting by Sir Winston Churchill. The landscape of this city is marked by the presence of characteristic fishing boats, called “Xavelhas”.
We will go to the Cabo Girão viewpoint, with the famous glass suspended platform - “skywalk”, currently one of the most visited tourist attractions. Cabo Girão is the highest promontory in Europe at 580 meters high. The Cabo Girão viewpoint offers an unparalleled perspective over the cities of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal.
Where you can see the emblematic Véu da Noiva Waterfall, whose beauty can be admired from the Véu da Noiva viewpoint. Allow yourself to admire this abundant waterfall that bursts from the vegetation-covered hillside, projecting towards the sea. An emblematic place on the north coast of Madeira.
See the Well of Lesmas, in this sheltered place, the morphology of the rocks, of volcanic origin, forms natural pools with a peculiar profile. The dark tones of the rock formations contrast with the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean, creating a picture that is impossible to remain indifferent to.
Porto Moniz known for its natural pools, one of the main attractions on the north coast. This is where we stop for lunch and also for those who want to swim in the volcanic pools. Furthermore, the surrounding landscape, with a panoramic perspective of the sea coast and its rocks, leaves no one indifferent.
Ribeira da Janela, where the watercourse with the same name flows. It refers to the most extensive watercourse formed in the interior of the island. Ribeira da Janela is famous for its imposing mountains, where the green of the slopes is complemented by the crystal clear blue of the Atlantic.
Fanal is known for its mystical landscape, marked by the presence of a centuries-old tis forest - these specimens date back to a time before the discovery of the archipelago. In this place you will find a vast forest area that invites you to peacefully enjoy the best that Nature has to offer. This idyllic space is one of the most emblematic places in the municipality of Porto Moniz, housing a landscape heritage of great beauty.
Ponta de Sol, with its stunning beaches and typical villages, is known for being the one that enjoys the greatest number of hours of sunshine per year. Therefore, it is where two famous products from Madeira Island are grown, bananas and sugar cane. Floriculture and horticulture also play prominent roles.
Passing between the north and south of the Island, Taberna da Poncha is a mandatory stop to enjoy the famous traditional Madeiran drink, poncha. Poncha a pescador, the traditional one, is made with brandy, lemon peel crushed with sugar. As time went by, they began to make other ponchas such as regional, passion fruit and tangerine. Being also a typical Madeiran drink, they added nikita to the list. If it is made with alcohol, it is made with pineapple ice cream and beer. In the non-alcoholic version, the beer is replaced by passion fruit breeze. Thinking about children who often accompany their parents, Taberna da Poncha started making alcohol-free poncha. An absolutely surreal experience made from our tour guide Christophe. Enjoyed viewing all of Madeiras natural beauty's and embracing its warm culture.
Brilliant tour of the island, if you are thinking of booking one book this one! Everything about the tour was right, including amending the final section to our preferences/ when the original bar we had planned to go to was closed. Cristophe also took the time to explain every stop to us and point out good restaurants for lunch when we noticed that other guides had just left their groups.
Excellent tour great way to see island Chris was good fun and very knowledgeable. He made it such a fabulous day highly recommended.
Fantastic trip with fabulous Christophe driving and informing us about the flora and fauna of the island, its history and culture. It would have taken us days to see only a fraction of what we saw and experienced if we had driven ourselves. Great value and very comfortable car. Thank you Christophe
The tour was amazing, really opened the understanding of the island without being too formal. The guide is fantastic and very funny. We chose it because it gave 2 hours stop over in Porto Moniz and you DO need this time if you want to swim. And you do want to swim there.
We booked an East and West tour with Christopher and it was amazing. Christoper is a great guide and explains everything with passion and fun. His knowledge about the island is beyond words. He listened to our wishes of what we wanted to see and planned everything accordingly. It was worth all the money. Made some of the best memories. I highly recommend this trip to everyone looking for a tour in Madeira!
Christopher was the best guide we could have asked for. He made sure that we saw all the places, we really saw everything of Madeira. He took the time at each place and also explained everything in details about the island including history, animals, flowers, food and much more. He has a good humor which elevates the experience. He was flexible and made us feel comfortable and safe at all times. Above all he made sure that we enjoyed every bit. He even sent suggestions for the rest of the trip. We really appreciated the effort, enjoyed it and would recommend to everyone.
Christopher is the best guide I have ever met. Very professional, came to pick us up and brought us back home. Such a smart man, knows a lot about the island and not only tells you about the history/vegetation of the island, but also makes you experience the island by letting you try the local delicacies, smell and feel the plants, let you stand in the land rover with the open roof and go off roads, shows you the hidden gems of the island that you cannot find on the internet. He listens to his guests and their wishes for the places they want to visits and has awesome recommendations. We really enjoyed our time thanks to him. Thank you lots!
A great expedition. We saw an enormous amount of things thanks to Tito, our guide, who taught us a lot about the island's history, its fauna, and its flora, while taking secondary routes that we would never have taken without him. Thank you, and see you soon to explore other facets of the island.
We did the 4x4 tour as a group of three, and it was a real highlight! Great landscapes, exciting off-road tracks, and a fantastic guide – Christophe was very funny and told us a lot about the history of Madeira. Everything was top-notch organized and was a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend the tour!
