We went on this trip as a family of four with two children aged 5 and 7, as we wanted to see some of the great sights of Madeira whilst keeping the kids from being bored. This trip was perfect as the kids were very excited to be going in a jeep, there wasn’t too much walking and the duration at each stop was perfect for seeing the sights you want to see without staying too long. My kids usually say they are bored every 5 minutes and they didn’t say that once during the whole trip. Madeira safari were great at keeping us updated through WhatsApp in the lead up to our trip. Our tour guide Gabriel great, he was very knowledgeable pointing out important landmarks and giving useful advice and tips throughout. For the kids the highlight was the off-roading when they were able to stand up and enjoy the proper experience. For the adults we loved it all. This trip is perfect for those that want to combine lots of mini experiences into one - to be up in the mountains, go on a short but scenic levada walk, taste the local rum and try authentic food whilst visiting the very pretty village of Santana and seeing some lovely sights. Would definitely recommend this experience for all ages.
Picked up from our Hotel at 9.00am prompt, we set off for our jeep safari and what an experience it was. Our driver/guide Nico (Nico was Loco in the nicest possible way 😄) led us through the various stops on the East tour with breathtaking sights. Special mention of the off road 'rock n roll' sorties, all 7 guests hanging out the roof, ducking to avoid the overhanging bushes to the soundtrack of highway to hell will live long in the memory. Great, fun day and definitely a highlight of our holiday. Dropped back at hotel around 4.30pm, tired but happy!
Nico the travel guide was superb and made our day. He fully got our 7 year old involved in the day and the energy and enthusiasm he brought rubbed off on our family of 4 and the 2 others in our jeep. The off road driving was so much fun!
We had a fantastic day. Joao was our driver- he was enthusiastic, helpful and very friendly. Plenty of coffee/loo stops! My main advice for you would be to take a hoodie/jumper as it’s cold going up the mountain. When Joao asks if you want boring or exciting off road part of the trip- go exciting-he loves that part and you’ll have fun! Great day out and well worth the money 😊
A great trip with a very knowledgable guide. Saw parts of Madeira you would not normally see. Well worth going
It is a full day jeep tour where you get to go up on the mountains and down in Dalarna. You stop in different places to eat, take pictures and even visit a rum factory.
Excellent guide. Lots of value. I really enjoyable day out.
Very nice tour, friendly guide
The tour was average. I think they try to stretch it out by adding a leveda hike which I was excited about & reason for booking. But when we got to the trail, driver told us to scan for our time slot & paid for our permit. Fully booked so we couldn't hike. Shouldn't this have been told to us ahead of time? So to stretch out the time, he took us to a coffee shop (after we all had breakfast). It's an ok tour if u want something inactive & just to see the other side as it is a beautiful island. Santana is cute but 90 mins to see 3 thatched roof houses? There's a lot of great food nearby for lunch but if you're not hungry, not much to see or do. Again, it's a beautiful island but the east side could've been done in 4hrs.
Super guide, 3rd time and never disappointed!!
