Bac Ha Sunday Market is the largest and most colorful ethnic market in Northern Vietnam. Held only once a week, it is a unique cultural gathering where ethnic groups such as the Flower Hmong, Dao, Tay & Ha Nhi come together to trade, socialize and preserve their traditions. Travel through spectacular mountain scenery, passing terraced rice fields, corn farms & traditional villages while learning about the cultures and daily life of the local ethnic communities from your guide. Arrive at Bac Ha Market and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of local life. Watch ethnic people in their traditional costumes shop, meet friends and trade goods. Explore colorful stalls filled with fresh produce, handicrafts and regional specialties. If you wish, you can purchase seasonal fruits, sample local snacks, taste traditional corn wine or enjoy local dishes (at your own expense). Continue to the livestock section, where local families trade pigs, chickens & other farm animals..
After visiting Bac Ha Market, enjoy a relaxing lunch before taking the bus to Ban Pho Village, located about 1.5 km from the market. Upon arrival, take a short walk through this peaceful village, visit a traditional Black Hmong family's home, and gain an authentic glimpse into their daily life. Along the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to take beautiful photos and experience the unique culture of the local community.
On the way back, stop to visit Mau Temple (Lao Cai), an important spiritual site dedicated to the Mother Goddess in northern Vietnam. Afterwards, visit the Vietnam–China Border Gate, where you can see the international border and enjoy views of the neighboring city across the border.
