We had the most wonderful day with Halit, who is a very skilled tour operator. He was friendly and knowledgeable and organized a perfect day for us to see Grueyere and the Lavaux wine region. It was a perfect mix of site seeing, culture and tastings. The chocolate, cheese and wines were all delicious. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in Lausanne by Halit and his driver in a comfortable car and started off with a walk around the vineyards and a delightful cappuccino in lavaux. From there we were off to Gruyere to tour the cheese factory and sample delicious cheeses (you can purchase some to take some home as they are ok out of refrigeration for up to 5 days!). Our next stop was to Castle Gruyere which is a wonderfully maintained castle dating back 8 centuries, with many original pieces of art and furniture inside, along with stories of its former inhabitants. Then it was on to Broc to tour the Cailler Chocolate Factory. The tour is a lot of fun and is much like an amusement attraction, complete with a tasting of some of their delicious treats. Next we had a fantastic fondue lunch at a nearby restaurant and then it was off to taste some wines. We met a fantastic wine maker, Blaise Duboux, and immensely enjoyed his wines and learning more about his winemaking and history. We arrived back at our hotel in time for dinner after an immensely enjoyable day.
Thank you very much for this great review Shelly, It was a pleasure for us to have you as our guests!
