Itinerary
Take-in views of the Loch and Lochleven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was held prisoner for a year in the 16th century.
Visit Scotland’s first designated conservation village and home to Falkland Palace, built in the early 16th century. Take time to stroll the cobbled streets of this charming medieval town, which you may recognise from the TV series Outlander.
a town that takes its name from Scotland’s patron saint; legend claims that relic’s of Saint Andrew were brought here and founded the (now-ruined) Cathedral. This is also the home of St Andrew’s University, established in around 1410. Alumni include Prince William and Kate Middleton, who met here whilst students. The town is also famously the home of golf, which has been played here for over 600-years and seen golf develop to the form we recognise today. The ‘Old Course’ is the oldest public course in the world and regularly hosts The Open Championship, normally every five years. We will have plenty of time in St Andrew’s to explore the town, see the ruined castle & cathedral, take in the golf course and have some lunch.
The abbey was founded in 1191 and visited by numerous kings. This may be Scotland’s oldest distillery as it has the oldest written record from 1494 of spirit being distilled for the King. Our visit will include a comprehensive tour of the distillery and a tasting session to follow. Non-alcoholic options are available for the tasting.

Jenny was an amazing guide. She told us lots of history, gave us great recs at each location and plenty of time to explore. The playlist was a nice touch.
Thank you so much for this. We are really pleased you had such a great day and we will make sure Jenny sees your kind words. She really does go the extra mile and it is lovely to hear the playlist got a mention too. We hope to welcome you back on another tour soon. Cheers, James
Great tour, from start to bottom. Full of interesting tid bits if you like history, great views or whiskey. St. Andrews its a lovely place and the whiskey... damn it's a shame i cannot buy these bottles easily where im from. Special mention to our bus driver, guide and entertainer John he was on top of everything with interesting facts, funny stories or just good conversations.
The whisky problem is real! St Andrews and that distillery make for a brilliant day out, but getting those bottles back home is always the tricky bit. John sounds like he was on top form with the facts, stories and conversation. Really glad you had such a great time. Cheers, James
This was a very pleasant and entertaining tour. Our guide and driver (John) was extremely knowledgeable and gave us interesting facts along the way. The tour fits a lot of stuff into 8 hours and ends with a visit to Lindores Whisky. Highly recommend!
John and the Go Tours team were absolutely brilliant. John is a true tour guide, knowledgeable, personable, and incredibly professional. Despite only having 2 participants out of 16, the tour continued as scheduled, which we truly appreciated. The vehicle was clean, modern, and safe. We spent a wonderful 9 hours exploring and learning, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!
We had such an amazing time on our tour in Edinburgh! John, our guide, was so friendly and welcoming from the very start. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about Scotland’s history—you can really tell he loves what he does. Even though it ended up being just my husband and me on the tour, John was so happy to still take us out and make sure we had a great experience. He even took some lovely photos for us along the way! You get to see so much of Scotland and learn so many fascinating things. Highly, highly recommend this tour!
A great day that absolutely delivered on what the tour promised. We loved our time in St Andrews and the whiskey experience was excellent. Jenny was great. knowledgeable and friendly and looked after us extremely well.
The itinerary was excellent. Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. We loved listening the Scottish songs during the trip. The bus was very comfortable. Highly recommended.
Tour was amazing and loved John, he was full of so much knowledge! Loved all the stops but? Would have preferred to stay in St. Andrews for 3 hours not 2.
Small group of 5 which was fabulous. Left on time, driver was very talkative and knowledgeable..however could not hear alot of what she said not using a microphone.. Stops were great and St. Andrews was all I thought it would be! The whisky tasting was just ok and too long but the Abby there was worth it. As a day it was fantastic and would take another tour if back in Scotland..
Great tour and way to see several places in a day. St.Andrews is beautiful and Lindores Abbey tour is in depth and knowledgeable. I would absolutely go back to both. Our guide was informative and friendly. She was also very considerate of our time and wanted to make sure we were having the best experience. Would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a day trip from Edinburgh.
